You're sitting in the backseat of a car with your best friend, being driven to the Liverpool celebration party after they just won the league. "I can't believe I'm letting you drag me to this party," you whine, looking over at your long time friend Maya, who has a massive grin on her face. "Girl, come on, think of all the hot ballers that will be there," she responds, and you can't help but shake your head.
You've had a very long day that's been filled with brunch with your mother, shopping with your best friend, and watching Liverpool win the Premier League. You would have loved to watch the match from home, but with your father being the head coach, you just had to go.
"Please, my dad would have a heart attack if I got with one of his boys," I sigh. Not that I mind, though. None of them have really caught my eye, well... none of them except for one that is. The captain, Virgil, was really handcrafted by the universe itself.
Maya turns and looks at me as if I'd just said the most ridiculous thing in the world. "You are a grown woman who can get with whoever she wants okayy, and I say you should finally make your move on the captain," she says the last part in a sing-songy way, nudging my shoulder. "I don't know, maybe I will," I say as we arrive at the venue.
On the inside, the music is loud with lights flashing in all directions, everyone celebrating the win from earlier today. The adrenaline from earlier dying down for Virgil as he walks through groups of people congratulating him and fellow teammates patting him on the back.
'I'm too old for this,' he thinks to himself. Only coming to support his team. "30 more minutes," he says to himself. He decides to spend the time talking to two of his teammates when he sees you and your friend walk into the room, his eyes landing on you specifically.
The coach's daughter.
He's seen you a few times here and there at a few games, but that's been it. He's always let his eyes linger on you for longer than he'd like to admit. That brown skin that looked like it was dipped in honey, those thighs when you wear those short skirts and dresses. Always had his imagination running wild.
You walk past him brushing his shoulder and everything seems to slow down as you look at him with those big eyes that make him weak from a distance. Flutter your lashes, saying a quiet apology as you walk towards your friend. “You good mate?” His teammate asks chuckling.
Virgil clears his throat nodding before downing his drink. “I’m gonna head to bar for another before heading out” he nods his head towards the bar before leaving.
You and Maya are sitting in your own section when you spot Virgil making his way towards the bar. You take a moment to appreciate his looks, the fitted T-shirt making his biceps more prominent as he crosses his arms leaning on the counter, his hair in cornrows making him look more delicious then usual.
That’s a fine man.
“Yes he is, and you should go talk to him,” Maya says sipping on her drink. You turn to her horrified , “did I just say that out loud?” You ask face palming yourself. “Yes you did girl, now if you don’t go talk to him I will,” she threatens, knowing that’s what would get you up.
You turn to look back at him when his eyes meet yours again making your heart race. His eyes have been glued on you since you got here, but that’s nothing new. The tension has always been there, lingering between unspoken glances, but it’s always been too risky.
“Okay, fuck it” I say taking a shot for some liquid courage. “Oh don’t worry about me I’ll find my way home” she shouts over the music as I make my way over.
The bartender gives Virgil his drink before he sees you walking right up to him. He looks around and sees that nobody is looking. You walk up and lean against the counter, tilting your head to the side, facing him.
“If it isn’t thee Virgil van Dijk,” you say, which makes him chuckle. His smile lines become more prominent around his eyes and cheeks. "In the flesh," he responds.
"So..." you say, crossing your arms, which lifts your boobs up. You don't miss the slow drag of his eyes from your face to your chest. He doesn't try to hide it either.
"Are you gonna buy me a drink?" you say in a way that makes him shift slightly due to the growing print in his pants.
He waves over the bartender, not forgetting to spare another glance at your tits, which look great with the halter top you decided to wear, if you do say so yourself. "Here I thought that a man like yourself would have a little more respect," your voice just above a whisper.
Virgil had not noticed how much closer you'd gotten. Your elbows were almost touching, yet he felt like his body was gonna burst into flames.
"I normally would, but I don't think you want that right now," his voice lowering as well, sending shivers down your back.
"Maybe, maybe not." You shrug
"Maybe not," he repeats the last part with a smirk, taking a sip of his drink, not breaking eye contact.
