Also van heidt could literally have been completely fine if he just left that school behind. Like he literally could've just taken anyones body and left town or even just not raised problems or interacted with maddie (and the rest of her group). No one would know. If he left town, there would be NO ONE questioning shit. Even if he possessed someone and then took a very different life path and people were confused, no one outside of Maddie and Friends would ever consider ghosts.

interesting parallel to mr. martin and van heidt that scratches my brain:

they're both cowards in their own way. but as to where mr. martin can admit and even grow from his mistakes, van heidt calls his actions "brave" and has no regrets with them.

that's so fucking interesting to me. i'm not sure if they can be called narrative foils but this is a parallel i noticed in my first watch and I love it. this season has really redeemed mr. martin for me LOL (and i truly cannot wait for van heidt to die again and forever fuuuck that guy)

(some of) My Thoughts on the School Spirits S3 Finale

in no particular order

im so glad we got to see dawn again

i’m so glad we got to see wally again if we didn’t i was gonna lose my mind

the wally&maddie reunion and the maddie&simon reunion both my made clap and squeal so much

i really like the resolution in the church scar

i’m glad the pastor was finally able to move on

it was so heartwarming for mr martin and ralph to talk, and then for mr martin to stay

it’s so comforting to know that 1. ralph was the one that spit everyone out of the scar and 2. the bus was going to crash either way, ralph just didn’t want the kids to be alone :,)

charlie /definetly/ got his door, but who knows if he even wants to go anymore :)

wtf does it mean that the boundary is down, and what are the ghosts gonna do now

will maddie still only be able to see them at the scars, or can the just like follow her around and hang out

i hope simon can see all the school ghosts now

i really wanna see the ghost group get high lol

the living group is so fucking cute together i love them

it was heartbreaking to see that dave’s scar was his daughter sitting alone at the doll house he made for her, but it made so much sense for his character

i feel bad for livia tbh, i don’t think she’s a bad person, i think she just had a really shitty role model

i wonder what will happen to her now, bc i have a feeling deb will not just be getting a slap on the wrist (god i hope not)

honestly i would love if livia got redeemed and joined the main friend group

side note i still think claire was in the wrong to quit the cheer squad mid season and completely ghost everyone on the squad

like yeah they seemed a lil shitty but i think its wrong to just dip out on a commitment you made to other people (without extreme circumstances) and also to completely abandon people with no communication at all, even if you don’t want to be friends anymore, have the guts it fucking tell them

Dawn of the Living Deb Spoilers

I just thought of a question. How does Van Heidt keep getting his ring from person to person? I assumed he must've physically retrieved it when he was in Kyle's body, and it seems like every body he jumps into, he automatically has the ring. How? I'm assuming it's his key, but how does it manifest in the real world?

Wait, so how did Van Heidt walk in to Sandra?

Like yes, Sandra was worried about Maddie, but now that she’s in-the-know, I just really doubt that she was worried enough to put her in an emotionally vulnerable state comparable to the other (living) victims of walk-ins like Maddie, Mr. Anderson, Dr. Hunter-Price, who had literally lost everything.

Did Sandra start having a massive breakdown over the idea of Maddie being in danger (which seems unlikely) or did Van Heidt somehow figure out a way to force a stable person’s spirit out of their body, like how he figured out how to travel between the doors and scars?

Or was Sandra’s spirit (or even Dr. Hunter-Price’s, potentially, with how they were wondering what he did with her spirit) locked away in her body or something since it had a strong enough grasp to not “put up a vacancy sign”, as Dawn described it?

Could the ring have something to do with it, considering how it stays with him as he jumps between bodies?

And where did he get to her? Like maybe she stayed at the hospital (so he could get to her through the foundry scar) but I don’t see why she would’ve if Maddie and Xavier had both left. She may have gone to the school, but even of she saw the flames and got worried about Maddie, I still don’t think that that would have been enough. Did she go back to the house? That would only create more questions, because how the hell could he possibly get to her there? Was he free roaming now that the barrier was down? How did he find her at all?

I need season 4, episode 1 next Wednesday. I have a thousand more questions about Van Heidt alone, not to mention EVERYTHING ELSE THAT HAPPENED!!!

Damn what's the fuck is van heidt's problem? He wants to get the school down so bad that he repeatedly bodysnatched anyone. Like he could do that in some other city or state but noooooo. Or get on the lead board but no he wants to kill the students that's trying to stop him.

Season 3, Episode 6: Children of the Scorned Spoilers!!!

I get the ending was dramatic and everything. It took me replaying the ending of the ghosts's scenes to realize that Simon was pulled under, I thought we was just pulled further into the church and then I realized he was pulled under into the water. Then the ghosts all appeared back in the library without Simon!

Then the part with the living kids chasing Van Heidt through the field. I was so sure Van Heidt was going to shoot one of them but he shot himself. Xavier couldn't have said it better: "What the fuck is happening?"

But my thought was: Poor Kyle. He just learned some jerk stole his body and his life for 19 years, and he got a little bit of hope and then Van Heidt killed his body. There's nothing worst than having no hope, then getting some hope and then having that yanked away!
