Vandrysse Memorial

This Saturday and Sunday, (the 29th and 30th), at 6PM Server Time, an in-game event for our recently passed friend Vandrysse will be held. 

The event will be held over two days to accommodate differing schedules, to make sure we get as many people as we can. It will not be IC. 

The outline and framework is a sort of take-turns, forum-style proceeding, where people who would like to share feelings, thoughts, or stories about her, or offer condolences or the like to family and friends, can line up and do so in turn.

What’s said in game, messages I’ve received, posts I’ve read about her passing, will all be put together on paper to bring to her surviving husband when I go for the services. He would absolutely love to know just how much everyone cared for her. If you want any particular message for him, please do not hesitate to contact me, and I will make sure he gets it. She was his world, and he’s rather lost right now. I’m hoping that you all can help me make this gift from the internet, and from WoW especially, a big, bright, and meaningful piece to treasure.

Message me here, or in game on Astrid, (Wyrmrest Accord Alliance, (mail or whisper is fine)), to be added to the calendar invite list, where the location will be posted. 

Off-server attendees are fine, just message me however you can and I will make sure you are phased in. Horde side members are encouraged to roll an alt if they have no Alliance character already, a ride can be provided to any level 1′s upon request. 

Please, pass this around like you did my announcement earlier today. I want all of the sad people I have seen across my dash all day to know that this is happening, so they can come.

I was sad to hear of Vandrysse’s passing. It’s always hard saying goodbye, and I’m sure her friends feel it was far too soon. I remember seeing her posts come across my dashboard, although I never really said hello.

It is an honor to be asked to help honor her memory. I hope that she would approve of our work, our feelings, and our reverence of her memory.

🗑- How full would their trash can typically be?

Between two nine year old daughters and Jo, it’s probably pretty darn full. M doesn’t eat but the rest of their household sure does, and likely right after combat missions things probably get a bit lax in terms of chores and taking out the trash. I know I wouldn’t be keen on emptying my trash cans after I’d just gotten beat to hell and back the day or two before.

Vandrysse Dyce, the original character, was written and played by Dana David, wife to Victor David. While many online mourn her loss, and want to reach out and help or console her husband, it's a concern of many of us close to them that he will be struggling financially. Dana was Vic's world, and...

A lot of people expressed a desire to see the fundraiser for @vandrysse‘s husband linked on tumblr, so here it is. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to message me, and if you or anyone you know, knows Vandrysse, whether they be from Wyrmrest Accord, Moon Guard, Sisters of Elune, or any other server, game, or place, please pass this around. The goal is more or less arbitrary and ever-shifting as more bills come. Whatever is donated goes quickly, and directly to him. Any amount, any share, helps.

For Leon: My muse gives a speech before a battle.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry it’s come down t’ this, t’ you, an’ t’me. 

“I’m sorry it’s not somebody y’know will lead y’t’glorious vict’ry standin’ere tellin’ y’how an’ why it’s gonna ‘appen.

“I’m a druid. I don’t… look, I never understood fightin’ fer honor, fightin’ fer glory, fightin’ fer a cause. I look fer balance. I fight when fightin’ is all that’s left, an’ that’s where we are right now.

“If all that’s left t’us is t’fight, then we will. We don’t want to, most’f us. But we will, t’make sure nobody else is left with th’same gods-awful choice we are.

“If y’really need a banner, don’t look t’ th’Alliance. Not t’th’king or th’country. Not even t’th’ gods. Those’re all entities tha’ do their own fightin’ just fine. We, an’ they, all fight fer th’same reason, we just don’t always notice.

“So if y’must fight, know why y’fight. Fight t’ensure th’ safety o’ those ‘o don’t fight b’side you. Fight t’ensure th’world stays in one piece another day. Fight so ev’ryone r’members you. Fight t’know yer friends ‘n’ fam’ly kin know peace in death. 

“Fight fer th’ future. Yours, mine, an’ ours.”

For Leon: Zip Me

Tongue poking just past his lip in concentration, Leon drew the zipper slowly up Vandy’s back. Any other person would be taking their time because they wanted to enjoy the visual, but he was deeply concerned that he’d snag either her hair or her skin if he so much as breathed wrong.

“Y’know, I have it on good authority that it’s not gonna break if you go a little faster, Leon.”

“It’s a delicate process. ‘As yer good authority done studies onnit? It might need peer review.” After a second, he tossed out “Also tha’s what she said” as an afterthought.

Vandy laughed, and his heart stopped. When she turned her head and didn’t jerk in pain, Leon looked back down again. All zipped up and no casualties!

“There, see?” Smiling, she stepped away from him and turned around, spreading her arms in a mild ‘ta-da’ pose. “Well? What d’you think?”

“…I think yer gonna be real mad at me.”

“What? Why?” Vandy’s smile faded into a worried frown, and she was already mentally chastising herself for her choice of dress. Of course he hated it, it wasn’t at all his style, and–

“Cuz ‘m definitely gonna break th’zipper gettin’ it back off.”

Oh.

They never did make it out the door. Neither of them seemed all that upset about it.
