i actually love that Janine gets like her mom when she's drunk and not because it's funny (tho it is) but because it's a very smart way imo of casually reminding people just how much a parent/bad parenting can affect you. Even with characters whose bad upbringings led them to be entirely different from their parents, i feel like sometimes people forget that that certain character wasn't raised properly. And it's really hard to not have an Ounce of similarities (especially bad ones at that too) with your parents idk idk just a really cool and smart choice imo and really underlines that Janine had to put in effort to be as nice as she is (i think another hint of this is when she sees an email from a woman to Eddie and she gets fairly jealous even tho it was some type of hr email or smth)

So I haven’t seen the new Abbott Elementary episode because I need to wait for it to be on Disney+ tomorrow, but I have seen the promos, and is it bad that I kind of want to see Gregory tell Vanetta off? I know this is a show that puts a lot of emphasis on healing familial relationships, and that’s great! The episode where Gregory and Martin bond was great, and so was the episode about Jacob and Caleb! But also, I want to see Gregory call Vanetta out for being a bad mom to Janine.
