In the trailer Ansem talks about how "if he wavers from the path we lay, we destroy him", Causing xigbar to say "but then...we'll have to find another vessel"
It cuts to Sora either implying they're laying out the path for him, or he's a back up vessel. Personally I believe he's a back up simply because i think the one to betray the 13s will be Vanitas.
In the trailer he goes "what am i going to do with you brother" and hes never referred to Ventus as that before (to my knowledge) so I think Vanitas is going rouge and instead of being a good guy (since hes stabbing aqua and all) i think hes going off and doing his own thing
