VAN LIFE is HARD- Here's 6 REASONS why!
So it was that morning I had to go to the toilet right after my morning coffee. Ofcourse we don’t have a bathroom or a toilet in our car so the only choice is to go outside. Fortunately we were on a perfect place where you can go over the closest hill and do your business there, unseen. I did my best and at the same time on a lookout, because in Morocco you never know if there is a hidden Jedi sitting under next tree. When I was finished I realized that will be nice to now to bury it in sophisticated way. So I took a few rocks and create a nice small hill under the big one. I’m not satisfied yet so i throw few more rocks on to be sure when my boyfriend decides to go here, the only thing he can find is my art installation. With a feeling of well piped work I wanted to go back to the car, when in fact about three steps from my altar I saw the giant shit splashed under a rock. In that moment I realized that my boyfriend was already on the toilet and our level of the internal fusion and mutual intimacy fired into the astral heights .It fired so high, where you can’t go even yourself, let alone with someone else. I start to laugh and I don't know if I'm laughing at the fact that this is funny or from pure despair over what I saw. So I´m got back to the car, opening the sliding doors saying “I think our relationship just went to the highest and farthest level it could” and I can see in his face, that he already knows what this is about. “You saw my shit!” I can’t hold this and started to laugh, we both laughing realising it’s not such a big deal. Oh hey, does it happen to you too, when you go through strong experience or huge shock in your life then it just flashes before your eyes when you don’t expect it and it still comes back again and again? Thats my real vanlife.
We met Marcel this winter in Andalusia, Spain. This is his home for a few weeks of his winter surfing holidays. He is Dutch but lives in Portugal for a while now teaching surf and occasionally helping his friend on a fishing boat. We loved him instantly. He showed us how to fish, we showed him how to climb steep walls, play cards and drink beer during daytime. I almost forgot how easy is to make friends while traveling.
