For the golden ticket, from Vanyris to Rosie. "I wonder, should the day come where you find yourself against that I work for - be it over moral squabbles, or perhaps you find me too corrupt or far gone, whatever the case - would you have the gall to stand against me, or have I failed you in more ways than one?"
Rosie seems taken aback by the question-- perhaps even saddened, or worried. "Well I... I should hope that we never see that day, professor. Certainly we have our differences, but none that should cause such a rift between us that we couldn't work things out with civility over tea..."She sighs, at the thought. "I suppose, though, were you to get involved with something I found morally inexcusable, or should the fel take over, pray that it doesn't... then I wouldn't be able to sit idly by for fear of creating conflict. I wouldn't be able to live with myself for such cowardice, not to mention the insult that it would be to all you stand for. I would hope that we would still be able to come to an agreement, but I do believe I would stand by my beliefs, even if it meant standing against you."She then tilts her head, turning the question back to the magister. "...in what ways do you feel you've failed me, professor?"
❅for uh, Kyn and Jes, Jes and Isra, Rosie and Zeke, and Dekard and Taenia.
First off, Rosie would get herself silky, slinky lingerie, which would really be a present for Zeke. She'd probably also get some rarer seeds for her garden, herbs she knows are useful for his poisons. But the big gift would be a goblin (or gnomish, less inclined to blow up) phonograph, and several recordings of popular Gilnean waltzes. In secret, she'd spend hours teaching herself the dances, but feign ignorance when he offers to dance, so that he gets the satisfaction of being able to teach her without the misfortune of having to deal with her two left feet, and they'd waltz the evening away.Taenia is not the best at gift-giving, having looked after no one but herself for most of her life. She'd probably track down some kind of Azerothian sweet, something that she likes, even if it doesn't quite fit his taste, and a pack of paper zeppelins. They'd spend the evening camped under the stars, though, feeding candy to Talbuk and harassing any wandering Rangari with zeppelins, and it would end up alright.Jes, by contrast, is surprisingly good at gift-giving. Using her connections to Silvermoon (Arastor), she'd track down some special Elven-made hair ornaments for him, and maybe some kind of sweet or pastry, stuff you can't get outside the city. As a half-joke, she'd also get some pants made for him, armored but enchanted to be lightweight and flexible. For Kyn, she'd go all out. While the druid's asleep she'd look through all of her books and notes on botany (what little she could read, anyway), to learn the best ways to harvest herbs. She'd probably end up trekking across Northrend (and maybe Pandaria, too), looking for perfect specimens of all the herbs that grow well in cold weather, lichbloom and goldclover, frost lotus and snow lily. She'd make Kyn a nice outdoor planter for all of them for the tower in Winterspring; something that she can help with without risking killing all the plants.
Rob actually sent me this like three weeks ago but since he requested all goddamn thirty I didn’t get around to finishing it until now. Also I lost one along the way, whoops.
What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.
Jes doesn't really sleep nowadays. Before she died, she was probably a side-sleeper-- most tactically sound and also a habit from curling up around Kyn.
Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
Well if scars count, she's got a huge one from when she died, reaching all the way across her abdomen from being nearly cut in half.
Putting the rest behind a readmore since there's fucking thirty of them.
Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
We don't really have a good grip on what accents are supposed to be like in WoW, aside the cartoonish ones. She speaks Common without an accent, since at this point it might as well be her native tongue, but her Darnassian would sound childish-- small vocabulary, trouble with more complex sentence structures.
Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
Again, her Darnassian is probably pretty bad. She's never been so great at talking in general, she's better off showing what she's thinking through her actions, or in writing once she learned to write. Now more than ever, she has a lot of trouble talking about feelings.
If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?
Goodbye by Asobi Seksu was the song that first really helped me get into her character, so maybe that one? Asobi Seksu in general is good music for her melodically, if not necessarily lyrically, kind of dreamlike trancey introspective-stuff. Marceline the Vampire Queen and that one song about Kerrigan would also work.
How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
Oh boy, what a loaded question. It’s complicated, like I imagine it is for a lot of Knights. She’s come to terms with a lot of the things that might initially give her a negative self-perception, like the need to kill and the looking like a monster and all the things she did while under Scourge control (though she’s still bitter about that one), and it helps that she doesn’t really know herself as anything different. She recognizes that everything that happened to her was shitty, but she’s fully embraced the Death Knight identity, and probably wouldn’t change if given the chance to. On the other hand, though, there’s a lot of little things she’s really insecure about; she wishes people weren’t afraid of her, she wishes she wasn’t so cold all the time, she wishes Kyn hadn’t had to deal with her death. On a deeper level, and probably most of all she wishes she wasn’t such shit with emotions, and hates that she hurts people in being so obtuse about them. Even if it’s just the result of Scourge conditioning and not really her fault, she still beats herself up about this a lot.
Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
Both? She’s very level-headed in combat situations, and even in arguments she tends to be snappy, though it kind of diminishes if things get personal. Any kind of emotionally-charged social situation, though? She’s fumbling for words and saying things she doesn’t mean, and chances are she’ll need to get away for a while to figure things out.
Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
She does not sleep ever, so she’s not really sure how dreaming feels like! Usually if the people she wants to be around are asleep, she’ll go out and hunt Scourge remnants or do Ebon Blade business, or sit around the Cathedral district looking for paladins to pick fights with. Every once in a while she’ll stay by Kyn’s side for the whole night while she sleeps.
If they had a choice, would they prefer a subway or a bus for public transportation?
Jes wouldn’t be crazy about either; she’s not super fond of technology or enclosed spaces, particularly ones so crowded. She’d probably take the bus, since at least then it’s easier to get out of if the need arises, and at least she’s not underground.
What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
This one’s a bit tricky for Warcraft. She’s not super concerned with creation, nor is she really hooked on any particular religion. She would never, ever tell Kyn, but she doesn’t really buy into the whole idea of Elune, even if she once apparently served her. Honestly, despite all the mistrust she has for a lot of it’s followers, she’s got a healthy respect for the Light, maybe even more a reverent fear. It can hurt her a lot more than other stuff, yet it’s what allowed the Knights of the Ebon Blade to break free. She’s pretty much the antithesis of everything holy, but Isra says that it still accepts her, it just doesn't quite understand what she is. It’s kind of a curious, maybe masochistic fascination, but one she’d never admit.
Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has.
1. She’s a huge mama bear. Once she makes a friend, she’s extremely protective over them. Don’t touch her friends, don’t even look at them, only she’s allowed to tease them, etc.
2. She’s kind of a coward. As much as she likes picking fights, she only likes to fight when she knows she has the upper hand, she likes to have a plan, she doesn’t like to risk anything going wrong. She likes stability. She doesn’t like leaving things to chance. When people she loves are in danger, though, her need to protect wins out over her cowardice.
3. She’s afraid of flying. Kind of a subset of the coward thing, being that high up in the air with only something as fragile as a gryphon to keep her from falling really freaks her out. She gets by on proto-drakes, since they at least feel big and strong and stable.
4. She cannot actually eat, not that she’s tried. Knights don’t need to, but some do if only out of habit, or to keep a sense of normalcy. Because of the way she was killed, though, she doesn’t actually have a lot of the organs necessary for eating anymore, if they even worked after death, so trying to could have some disastrous consequences.
Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
Most emotional situations are like this for her. Feelings are overwhelming!
Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
Obviously she’s a soldier so she can work in groups if necessary, but she prefers doing stuff on her own. Teams are a liability, she knows she can trust her own work, at least. Even if it’s people she loves and trusts, there’s always the chance of them getting hurt that she doesn’t want to risk, and she’d much rather take care of things herself if possible. She’s trained as a scout and a ranger, so she’s used to long, solitary missions, and that’s what she prefers, even in death.
Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
Again, it really depends. Combat? She’s flawlessly all over the place, she can do whatever she needs to. Emotional or social situation? Not so much. She’s probably a decent enough multi-tasker when it comes to mundane things, though, since she was a guard and a servant for a long time, even if she doesn’t remember.
What are their best school subjects? What are their worst? List five of each.
Jes is actually kind of illiterate and not very well educated, so she would be bad at most subjects, despite how disciplined she can be. She’d be good at sports, maybe.
Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
I actually have a hard time placing her as either one, I think, because the Death Knight thing is hard to account for. She can get really lonely when there’s no one around to talk to, but she’s fine with just trucking through it and going to kill things instead. She likes being around people, but she doesn’t like how people treat her most of the time, and she doesn’t like that she needs interaction. Unless the the conversation is emotionally charged, people don’t really drain her like they do for a standard introvert, but she still needs time away sometimes for Death Knight-y stuff.
Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
She’d never admit it but she’s totally a follower. Especially with Kyn, she’s subservient and loyal almost to a fault, and even though now she’s a little more wary after having been made to serve the Lich King, she’s still way more comfortable following orders than giving them. Once a soldier, always a soldier.
If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
It would really depend on who was doing the challenge, and the exact situation. She’s a tactician and kind of a coward, so if it wasn’t someone she could reasonably beat, and neither her pride nor anyone she loves was on the line, she’d back off.
If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
Well, it’s Warcraft, so technically she’s murdered a lot of people without consequence. Maybe a better question would be who would she like to kill personally, barring any factors that might get in her way? And that would be Arthas, obviously.
Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
She’d wish for all her friends to be immortal, since that’s something that bothers her. She knows she could just resurrect them as Knights, but that wouldn’t feel right to her. She might amend it to wish Night Elves back their immortality to please Kyn, and then tack Firro and Isra onto that.
She’d wish to be able to be warm on command to make it easier to cuddle with Kyn, since she feels bad that she’s so cold all the time.
She’d probably hold onto her third wish if at all possible, just in case something comes up. Jes is nothing if not a planner.
Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
For how prickly and belligerent she is, Jes warms up to people pretty quickly. It’s mostly a matter of whether or not they’re alright with teasing as a sign of affection. First impressions are very important-- piss her off or say something ignorant and she’ll hate you forever, but if you talk with her respectfully or react well to her ribbing, especially if the twins aren’t around, she’ll be your new best friend. It takes a little longer before she’ll drop the bravado and open up about anything meaningful, but it’s easier than one might expect.
Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Affection, affection, affection. Being swept off her feet would very much freak her out-- if anything, she prefers to do the sweeping, but she’d much rather make a nice dinner at home and give Kyn a massage or a bubble bath than do anything dramatic. She likes to be useful, and she likes caring for the lady of her affection and making her feel good. So, be needy, I guess?
Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
For as many fights as she picks, there’s no one I can think of in particular. People who hate the undead in general, maybe.
Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
Jes is/was decidedly un-kinky. She is super subservient, though, so she’ll happily indulge in all of the weird powerplay shit that Kyn’s into whether or not it actually aligns with her own kinks. If given the choice, though, she’d probably pick just gentle, cuddly vanilla sex.
How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
She doesn’t sleep! The wonders of undeath.
If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
I actually haven’t thought about Jes’s parents very much, or at all, even! They’re not very important to her story.
Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
This is also kind of a complicated one. She’s been through death and really would like to avoid it a second time, but it’s definitely not something she fears. She’s pretty comfortable with the idea of death (so long as it’s not anyone she’s close to, that’s a whole nother matter) after being de-sensitized to it in the Scourge, so while she’d try to avoid it if possible, she’d be more concerned for the people she’d leave behind. As for regrets, she doesn’t regret her first death. There’s things about being undead that she doesn’t like, and if given the chance to do it over again she’d probably try to stay alive if only for Kyn’s sake, but she’s pretty at peace with her Death Knight-ness. Hard to regret what you don’t remember, and it’s not something she can change, anyway. She does regret not seeking out Kyn sooner, and will beat herself up over how cowardly she was. She’s also bitter about how long it took them to break free from the Scourge, even though that’s something they couldn’t control, either. She tries to stay away from that line of thinking, though, because it’s a big emotional can of worms to open.
Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
There’s a little bit of both. Even though she might say otherwise, she really doesn’t care for being alone and craves companionship and interaction, even if it’s just picking fights with people in the Cathedral district. That being said, she does need to retreat into solitude at times to calm down and sort through her thoughts, especially after anything emotionally-charged. She’s easily overwhelmed in social situations.
Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
Joke’s on this question, Jes doesn’t eat! She’d probably pick something like vegetable soup or something, though, and let Isra donate it because she’s a big softie.
LOBSTMOURNE what are you going to Blizzcon as? My girlfriend (wrathofthebitchqueen and rosieposiecosplay on tumblr) are going as Khadgar and uh, she's either doing Warlock t10 or lady Ner'zhul.
