#Repost @awesohmness ・・・ **Extra-Long Post Alert** So, this is set at the turn of the millennium... when some of us were at some critical juncture of life. It was at the time when my generation was forced to grow up(listen to your heart was less heard of- listen to your elders was more like it). Yours truly was part of some sensational drama too- which basically involved not taking up Science as a preferred curriculum and go for the lesser know cousin i.e humanities. And let me take this opportunity to tell you- when two roads diverge amidst that kind of drama and if you successfully take the road less taken- it does make all the difference. One of my subjects I took up then was History and the best part about taking up the subject was the wonderful teacher who taught it. 😊She would walk-in, in her signature starched Kota Saree with a matching Bindi and no particular book or notes in hand. The first week of us beginning our classes, everyday, she came and she spoke. She didn't even get us to open our books or bothered about the chapters waiting to be flipped. She spoke of how intensely rich our land has been for ages and how people from far and wide came to India in search of themselves. We were these impatient 16yr olds back then who were only looking forward to getting our lives out of the classrooms and into the couch with a remote in hand. And she kept reinstating the need for us to not get automated or programmed to be run by a remote and she always used to say,"don't wait till that moment when you need to go and stand on the Ghats of Benares to find yourself." - Find yourself Now. As I was walking up the stairs of Dasaswamedh Ghat this past Saturday and I saw this scene(the picture above)- I instantly went back to my desk in that classroom, where I sat infatuated by this incredible teacher and every word she spoke. There it was in front of me- a scene enlivened straight out of a History lecture. .. @swaruprachna This is for you Ma'am. .. .. .. .. .. #indianshutterbugs #desitravellerclub #varanasiwithETLR #varanasidiaries (at Varanasi City)
