One of the funnier parts of getting into Big Finish Doctor Who is you get funny new lore knowledge like that Steven Taylor’s greatest foe is the shitty tinfoil-ass Vardans from Invasion of Time.

Fun fact: The Vardans, created in 1977, are somehow the most recently created villain that the First Doctor has faced.

And he has met them three times! (AUDIO: The First Wave, The Locked Room, The Vardan Invasion of Mirth)

The next most recent are the Rutans (1973/1977) and the Sontarans (1973) in The Dream and The Sontarans:

I can't believe the First Doctor hasn't faced a modern era villain yet.

Classic Doctors, New Monsters has covered every classic Doctor except for the First Doctor so it's only a matter of time before they get to him!

The Silents feel like a no-brainer for any classic Doctor because he won't remember them. Any other modern classics like the Ood, Judoon, Weeping Angels, or Vashta Nerada would be a good fit for the First Doctor. Or give him something more obscure like the Flesh, Colony Sarff's species, or Thijarians.
