                                     what he was asking was a lot. the rider was delving into another’s territory but, on his own name, he swears roran has an amazing heaart. his cousin always had that fighting spirit that  STUBBORNNESS  to him. brom’s words echoed in his mind: Hᴏʟᴅ ғᴀꜱᴛ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙᴇʟɪᴇғꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀꜱ ᴡɪʟʟ ʟɪꜱᴛᴇɴ. He meets her gaze, eyes steady, but there’s a sadness there, too. One he hopes isn’t too clear. The festival doesn’t matter to him, but she does. He wishes her the happiness she deserves, the happiness he’ll never see. She repeats it to him, and he can’t stop himself from giving an amused huff. “If the previous twenty years are any indication, it’s unlikely the next will be any better.” He knows he’s being rude, though, towards someone who is doing something she certainly doesn’t have to, so there’s a moment of silence before he speaks again, giving a small smirk. “Though perhaps all I’ve needed was your blessing.”

He’s made quiet again by her suggestion, and his smile disappears as a cloud passes over him. “No,” he said, “that won’t be necessary.”

    Devani gives her a sharp smile, backing up swiftly and changing shapes in between steps.  Stretches her wings with a quiet pleased bugle.  She’s still wary of drawing more attention to herself than necessary being the size of one of their buildings.  Her desire to spend as little time in human form won over anxiety.  “You are a good leader,”  the dragon replies.  “I trust you can handle any issues anyone could have with my being here.  I am the oldest after all, I have some right to be here.  And I’ve always been a fan of rebellions.”

If anything, while in exile, I find it hard to forget the time well spent. You, the only one E V E R  there for me in my time of need and I the same for you. My feelings for you will  N E V E R  disappear no matter the distance I travel. Do you understand, Nasuada ? ❞ Her name a slip of the tongue — how it was decadent to his very soul. Thorn had to suffer such sad thoughts, if not annoying loving ones, of his relationship with the Queen of the Varden.

Fingers brushed against the ink words printed on bound paper. It was true, that it was incredible that a man could essentially live forever through such a simple concept. It was limited, though, of course. It was not the man himself, but only his ideas, and they would only live on so long as the book survived.
