Variance! Dreamtale concept designs

the plot is a WIP but I’m thinking:

-Basically Dream has this recurring alternate reality dream about Nightmare’s fall from grace, so taking fate into account he researches how to swap their spirits. When NM is asleep he turns him into a positive spirit and then himself into a negative spirit. But instead of leaving it there, he decides to eat most of the negative apples just in case the spell wore off. NM wakes up and is like…“wtf is going on??? Why and how am I a positive spirit now?!” The villagers are dead and Dream is clearly going insane and has painfully sprouted lava acid wings. NM eats the remaining golden apples to try and save what’s left of the balance.

-Dream starts a cult (Messengers of Woe) in order to feed both of them positive and negative energy, and hires the destroyer (Error) & a traumatized ex-royal guard (Cross).

-NM works with the creation guardian (Ink) and a royal guard (Blue) to help lessen or prevent the damage Dream is doing. The other two think Dream is far too gone, but NM thinks he can help stop his evil tendencies with the power of friendship and family.

-Uriel was like six and impulsive and that was the clear answer. Pretty powerful magic wise though…like swapping spirit types is not easy. He probably had magic deficiency for a little bit before eating the apples.
