This article explains that sign language is not universal but has many different forms. There is ASL (American Sign Language), PSE (Pidgin Signed English), and SEE (Signed Exact English), as well as many varying country originated signed languages such as BSL (British Sign Language) and SSL (Spanish Signed Language) just to name a few.
