I'm (relatively) okay - just going to have a hard day today at work (in part tied to my disability, so if I don't answer much later, it's not because I'm ignoring, it's because I physically won't be able to). Just a heads up ^^
I love all the OCs too in the hugpile ^^ I love seeing it grow ! We're at 16 people at the time of writing but if we can make it to the 30s, it'll be artistically and visually super impressive ! I hope that then we could pass the 50 mark (would be incredible), and getting 100 people on this would just be, like... absolutely amazing.
My favorite TPoH character ?
I absolutely love RGB, especially how expressive he is (especially his hands, he's aesthetically very pleasing to look at to me and his hands very much so), and his movements being both delicate and utterly goofy at the same time. That man can look fabulous even when tripping over himself while sitting down. Bonus points that he's extremely creative - I headcanon him as having zebraness or at least resonate with him in that regard (ten ideas a minute, extremely fast thinker on his feet, thinking very out of the box, great adaptability and good reactivity, solution-oriented and branching-out analogous thinking, going-beyond-what's asked, quirky 'educated' humor and exact wording exploitation are all common zebra traits and he has them), I'm also a sucker for the "shady adult falling head over heels in parental love for a child despite themself" trope - Found Family is the trope I hold dearest, along with Undyingly Loyal Friendship Despite Differences and Big Sibling/Little Sibling (...might be because I'm demiro/ace XD)
I just love their trio : RGB, Hero, Assok. RGB is the (overworked, trying-his-best and unwitting) dad, Hero and Assok are the siblings (yeah, siblings - doesn't matter if one happens to be an elephant) that constantly take the wind out of his sails.
I also love the complexity of their relationship : RGB is literally the one having metaphorically 'killed' them, and knows both Assok and Hero have every right to feel negatively towards him... which they do, but they also know he did it out of necessity and him trying and having a heart way too big for his job is also something they take into account. That mix of complex feeling toward him (anger/resentment + love/trust(ish)) and acknowledging the fact those feelings coexist and aren't mutually exclusive, which the comic acknowledges too.
But I have to say, my favorite character is TINKER. I love his design, for one, I find it extremely well-done and creative (multi-tooled things with an ability to fold/unfold/box/unbox into more just scratch my brain the right way - I'm a lover of The Room games, to no one's surprise), and despite not appearing much I also love his personality, and the other thing I'm a sucker for is a witty, creative character with a good ability for snark and sass. Tinker checks all those boxes, and I couldn't resist giving him a snark work-out on some occasions (there's a third one in the workshop but I'll get to it when I can). I also appreciate Tailor for their sheer chutzpah, personality and wit. Cell makes me cackle a lot. But all-time favorite ? Definitively Tinker.
Helps that I'm technically trilingual from birth : French, German, and snark also profanity (English is my first non-native language). So I very much appreciate good wit.
(And, when I say I have sass that could stop a tramway, that's, uh, not hyperbole >< Those who know, know.)
My favorite game(s) ?
More of a genre : I love Metroidvania-types of games (Hollow Knight and Silksong being among my favorites, but also Hob, Animal Well... boy does Animal Well just scratch my brain right. Same with FEZ - loved noodling that stuff out), escape/puzzle/mystery/detective games with a dash of supernatural/fantasy (The Room franchise, also grew up on Freddi Fish, Putt-Putt and Spy Fox from HE!), action/adventure (like the Zelda franchise, plus they blend in some puzzles, It Takes Two due to the superb multi-genre and renewing of gimmicks and its AD, Alice Madness Returns - wonderful Art Direction and execution) and anything that has really good plot, twists and memorable characters ([PROTOTYPE] (and only the 1st, I do like Heller's character in the second but the rest was... ergh.) Ghost Trick, The World Ends With You/NEO TWEWY, Persona 5 - I need to play 4 - Omensight...)
And then there's the oddball stuff that I surprisingly like despite not following the same frame in terms of gameplay or story : Slime Rancher, Sunless Sea/Skies, Strange Horticulture...
Anything that's playing with the codes of its own genre in a good meta way is a surefire way to get me hooked in. TPoH does it, and brings the emotional side I also like : a man bonding with a kid over trying to save the world, their relation is very dear to me.
It's also found in my taste for movies : Inception is one of my favorites, but I also really like The Boy and the Beast, and Coraline, and Project : Hail Mary, for recent ones. On the darker side, I also like Primal Fear, but I'm more into animated series/movies - Wreck-It Ralph (the first) is one of my all-times favorites, given the lot of themes in it I resonate with (plus, again, that adult/child bond they develop). Danny Phantom was one of my favorite series too.
Note : while I do like the work, doesn't mean I necessarily like the author or creator. I'm aware that some of the works cited have (a) very problematic/controversial creator(s), and I absolutely do not condone their bullshit.
Double note : I often try to watch it all in all the languages I speak/understand - oftentimes some have better quality or translation than others, or just fit better (Wreck-It Ralph's German VA makes Ralph very sassy and shows that he's far from stupid, while in French they dumb him down... when the original English shows that he has average intelligence. Also boy can Christian Ulmen rip out a good scream). It's just fun to go see how another country adapted it ^^
