I said last week that we were going to see Essek kill Varrat, and while I was right, I didn't foresee him lying to the queen to accomplish that goal. This is so interesting. I thought we were going to see Essek stab Varrat in the back in a literal sense, but instead he made it much more personal. I was right, though. Essek's mother didn't survive the narrative, and now he's desperately clinging onto whatever he can get ahold of.
