The Ari Saga: Oh, Boys

Decided the next iteration of The Ari Saga would be best posted on the twins’ birthday. This iteration just contains kids being kids. And Ari being an irritated little snot.

Spoilers for those who haven’t read the Trigun manga.

On July 21st, 2455, one of the onboard PLANTs gave birth to two male Independents. The crew members decide the best course of action is to eliminate them, but Rem gets in their way and convinces them to spare their lives. The two PLANTs are named Vash and Knives.

Needless to say, five year-old Ari wasn’t happy to have more people on the ship, and began to feel neglected as taking care of the twins became Rem’s priority. Additionally, Vash became almost immediately attached to Ari and began constantly seeking her attention. Little Vash always stopped crying when Ari held him, always followed her around, always wanted to play with her as he got bigger. Ari even had to share her room with the twins, because Vash would cry if she wasn’t in the bedroom with them and Knives would cry if Vash wasn’t in the same crib as him.

Needless to say, Ari quickly became irritated with Vash’s antics and kept pushing him away, only to be given a talking-to by Rem each time. As the boys developed more and more, Vash kept sneaking into Ari’s room to sleep in her bed with her, despite Ari throwing him out and Rem trying to create alternate sleeping arrangements so that Vash would stay in his own bed. None of these ended up working, and Ari eventually resigned to let Vash (and later Knives) snuggle her at night.

It was really just bitchy kid stuff, nothing that could be considered legitimately harmful. But just imagine that you're little Vash, who absolutely loves and adores this person despite having no idea what this feeling is called, running to them for comfort and sometimes begging them to pay attention to you because you need them to be there for you. Only for them to snap at you to leave them alone because they just...don't want to give you the love you seek. It hurts little Vash, sometimes to the point of tears. So he grasps at literally any positive attention Ari gives him...which is why he's such a huge simp in adulthood.

More cryptid doodles! Vash and Ari have their own little language that they speak together and only they and other cryptids can understand. They can understand English, but they aren’t interacting with enough humans to speak it fluently.

The Halo theme but it’s in the plant tank

This was done almost a year ago based around headcanons and that scene from TriStamp Episode 12. Since plants respond to music, I figured that Plants could use songs to connect with one another. Thus, Vash and Ari have a specific song that they sing to each other, which both calms them down and helps them find each other if they wander off.

They also have a special tune they occasionally hum/vocalize when they’re “ready” for their partner.
