As my partner and I are sat here tonight in our own house, where we’ve made homemade pizzas, we’ve got snacks and popcorn to watch a movie together, and we’ve got different alcohol beverages, and I can honestly say that after 3 years I still fall head over heels in love with him all over again.
3 years ago I was struggling through my first year at nursing school, and he was away in the military. We were thousands of miles apart, and I would wait anxiously with my phone on loud wondering when he would next get signal to call, when I would next hear his voice. Scared in case I missed the only call he could make in the 6-9 weeks he was away.
Now look at us. Long distance relationships are hard, they’re tough, they’re agonising, they’re painful, they’re draining, they’re exhausting and they hurt; but as I sit beside him tonight I realise it was all worth it.
He is now working constructing bespoke studios and I am a fully qualified nurse and I couldn’t ask for more in life.
If you ever feel like life is going nowhere and you feel like you’re fighting for something that’s so out of reach, remember my story and remember it gets better. It’s all worth it.
You deserve your happy ending.
