Women in Mahabharata - Shashirekha

She is a daughter of Revati and Balarmaa, as immortalised in Telugu folklore. She is also known as Vatsala.

She was promised to Abhimanyu in their childhood, but when she grows up, with the Pandavas losing their royal status, Balarama decides to get her married to Lakshmana, Duryodhana's son.

Abhimanyu, disappointed in his uncle's failure to honour his pact with his mother Subhadra, leaves Dwarka and ends up allied with his older brother Ghatotkach, who helps him bamboozle the Kaurava party and marry Shashirekha after all.

Found this picture from around this time 3 years ago. It was the last pride event I attended. The umbrella isn't mine a nice gentleman let me borrow it for a picture but the poster is mine. I fell grievously ill exactly 3 days after this and decided to give gap the series a try because I'd been seeing a lot of it on instagram.

The airport in our town is being expanded to include international flights. So a lot of area outside of our town which is a university campus is being dismantled which includes the even smaller town I grew up in before we moved to this place. It was sunny today so I went for a ride to see the town and especially my kindergarten there. Brings back so many memories. I still miss my kindergarten teachers.
