So here is my blog about Cross The Pond on the Vatsim network yesterday!
Here we can see me at the gate in Orlando Florida at the start of CTP.
Unfortunately my co-pilot had a Crash To Desktop with her MSFS which is VERY unfortunate so my workload ended up being tremendous in the critical phases but i managed fine other than being a bit late with certain things.
Here i am are waiting to enter the runway for take-off!
LCN98X Runway 35L clear for take off! Cross The Pond is a go!
Here you can see me climbing out of Orlando
I cant willingly write this blog without including a screenshot of the sunrise!
Before take-off i had to wait for another united 777, However as i elected to cruise at mach .86 when everyone else basicly was doing .84 and slower i ended up overtaking 3 planes in mid-air! I overtook another plane going to Amsterdam as they didnt meet the altitude restriction and so i got in sooner!
Soon enough i got transferred over to oceanic control and for the next 3 hours of flight it was relaxing without having to listen to ATC!
And unfortunately soon enough the sun started to set again!
To say this was beautyfull is an understatement!
After about another hour of flight i was transferred to the belgian ATC and cleared for the DENUT3A arrival into Amsterdam. And now the big question arose in my twitch chat. Would we have to hold at RIVER or not? (River is one of the 3 IAF fixes for Amsterdam Schiphol which is the Initial Approach Fix)
And surely then Amsterdam Radar brought the relieving word:
"LCN98X decent to FL070 and after RIVER proceed direct to SPL"(the schiphol VOR waypoint)
In the top of my mind i got really confused when we directly overflew the runway! However rather unusually what i didnt expect is to be given runway 18C!
Then we flew over Purmerend and finally made our approach onto 18C
i saw about so many planes on short final here! I counted 8 planes around me including 2 on the runway!
Here after 8 hours and 5 minutes of flight we are on the stand in Amsterdam! Our Cross The Pond has ended. However some people still had 4 hours to fly during CTP!
If anyone is intrested to see the ATC perspective of my arrival into Amsterdam please check:
