Freija's tips for vault cleaning!
I pride myself on this, but only because I know some people *coughRise-26cough* who filled it in their first season and haven't touched it since.
For guns!
Step One-
Dump your pockets, fill them with selected gun archetypes. All shotguns, all rocket launchers or whatever
If you have more of an archetype than spaces in your inventory, sort by damage type.
If you have multiples, make sure to grab them all together for comparison.
Step Two
Take them all somewhere and shoot them.
Step Three
Break down the ones you don't like shooting.
No matter why you don't like shooting them. Shit reload? Glimmer. Handling a bitch? Glimmer. Don't like the shiny lights on the side? Glimmer.
Sole archetype and damage types may get a pass.
The basement in the relic supplies free heavy and special ammo. It won't tell you shit about how most perks feel, but at least you'll have a baseline.
~
Sometimes this process means losing a good roll on a rare gun.
At that point, if you're truly torn, it comes down to three questions-
What's the Light Level?
Floor? Glimmer
How many kills are tallied?
Sub-fifty? Glimmer.
Are the perks worth the trouble?
A perk you universally love and are deeply familiar with and use frequently can be worth keeping.
Cascade killers, reload perks, etc. that are particularly useful or cancel out difficulties can be worth keeping.
Refer to the kill count. Zeroes, regardless of perks, aren't worth it.
(there's a secret fourth, which is "are you willing to waste vault space in the name of sentimentality?" But by the time you get to it, it's answered.)

Armor
This is much easier cos it's just numbers.
Step one
Pick a stat limit. Total points or specific stat totals.
Get an idea of an average with a scan over
You will want to make exceptions. Pick the exception to allow. At most two, or maybe another combination of two.
Lift standards if any old standards are met but vault is still crowded.
So say your standard is 60 total, but when you get rid of everything, you're still crowded. So now you want at least thirty points spread between recovery and discipline, be it twenty eight and two or fifteen and fifteen.
Step Two
Delete the ones that don't make the cut.
Even that one.
When you can't do it, recall exception. Does it meet that secondary standard?
So, the standard is thirty between recovery and discipline, and this one doesn't make that cut.... but it's got 67 total spread. Other exceptions can be a particularly high single stat number or masterworking will correct the short. You'll want to make exceptions. Pick one or two and keep a hard line after that.
Now, here's a great thing--
Load out slots save cosmetics.
So you only NEED one set of armor. (I am gonna keep my many pages, but you do you.)
