vbs' most recent 3dmvs have been very weak, esp ultra c and fuel, b9th if which have 2dmvs that are soooo good. even 3fmvs i like, like yoidore shirazu, have made the 3d models feel... clunky? ig? which is something ive never noticed before

in my humble opinion the vbs cover of echo gets way too much hate. i honestly think that the cover is really good, and i really like the vocals in it and luka’s tuning

gonna be so honest vbs story is sooo rushed and sloppily written. really wish ans grief wasnt less than One Event bc she deserved to have time to heal properly vs rushing directly into trying to surpass rad weekend again

vbs constantly gets shit on the most out of any unit for having "bad writing" because people in this fandom don't have the media literacy to understand any subtlety/nuance in characters

(example: ken and people complaining that he was ooc when pushing vbs in the training arc when he literally had 0 behavior prior that would suggest he'd do otherwise... in general people expect ken to be "best dad" when he's actually a flawed individual who has caused an more damage than just the nagi situation; in earlier card stories it's heavily insinuated that an feels like her dad doesn't love her and has some internalized resentments against both her parents, and then there was also vot...)

additionally, i think the other problem is that people don't treat vbs like what it is.

like just because an's grief was handled differently (primarily regulated to card stories + area convos + virtual lives) does not mean they overlooked it (also the paywalled/time sensitive lore is a game design issue, not a writing issue, but that's a seperate tangent).

it was done that way because narratively, the story would lose a lot of momentum, and an's character development would be drawn out (her situation with kohane would be pushed back) if we got like one or two more events dedicated to an grieving, for example. i mean, she still was grieving in oyf so idontseetheproblem.

ik that people are upset about vbs seeming to be “just two duos”, and i understand where they’re coming from but ?? i fear you likely just aren’t reading the stories, they’re meant to be two duos. not even in a shipping way, but it’s very clear that that the people most important to them are their respective partners. the vivids are so crucial to each others development (most prominent in wtwg i think) as well as the bad dogs being important to each other too. but i’m also tired of people acting like there’s just no friendship in the unit? like obviously they won’t have a strong of a bond as a unit like l/n, but they’re absolutely friends? like, an and toya had that heart to heart in wtwg, they support each other.

vbs is two duos with a close bond, but it’s also a group of friends

Most of VBS events are about one of them doubting themselves and then ending in "I may not be as good as the rest of them..... But I'll still try harder!!!" and it's honestly getting annoying. I get that their whole reason is to defeat RW and get better, but is that the only thing their events have to tell?
