For over 100 days, students in Quebec have been protesting against proposed tuition hikes by Premier Jean Charest, the leader of an allegedly corrupt provincial government with widespread mafia links. And just like the rest of the dis-empowered youth of the world, they’re getting absolutely nowhere. On May 1, 2012, VICE took to the streets to see what the fuss was about. We encountered what has now become commonplace in Montreal: riots, masked protesters, and vast marches.

VIDEO: VBS.TV & Incase 'Picture Perfect’ Series – Zeng Han
"In Chinese, the character 'Ku' means cruelty, but it has a similar pronunciation as the English word "cool." Cool is about being at the forefront and about being fashionable. So I think it's the best pun to describe what is happening in China today." - Zeng Han.

MP3 of the Week: The Hood Internet – The Mixtape Volume 6 The Chicago mashup kings of The Hood Internet are back with another mixtape packed with indie noisemakers and hip hop heavyweights, with everyone from Mayer Hawthorne and Wiz Khalifa to Neon Indian and A-Trak rubbing shoulders on the sixth volume of their popular mixtape series. Maybe mashups aren’t dead — they just need to be handled by The Hood Internet guys. Video of the Week: Greg MacPherson – Party at Greg’s Cinematic/Scars founder and No Label Collective member Nicholas Friesen has created a wonderful hand-drawn video for local working-class rock ’n’ roller Greg MacPherson’s latest cut, Party at Greg’s. This is GMac’s first video, despite fighting the good fight in the music industry for the past 18 years. Watch for plenty of Winnipeg cameos, including Pip Skid, Cannon Bros. and Greg’s partner in Disintegration Records, Cam Loeppky. It’s going to be tough to top this stellar debut video. Hopefully local music fans won’t have to wait nearly as long for his second.
