one beer, ten wings, and a shot of whiskey into the night and eli is beginning to relate deeply to the term liquid courage. there’s a breeze in the air ( or rather, a sour smell of the beer already spilled in the living room ) that’s told him: now is the time. and so, eli vogel makes what is possibly one of the riskiest moves of his life with a pabst blue ribbon ( garbage ) in one hand and a store brand ( still pretty good ) chocolate chip cookie in the other.
“Hey, hey-- Val,” the cookie is held firmly between his thumb and forefinger while the back of his hand taps flatly against the marshal’s shoulder. “You think I could steal you for a minute?”
He’d be at Harry Caray’s and Nathan didn’t have much to do for the night. He did agree on meeting Calliope when the night was over just to eat pizza and drink more beer. But that was hours away and right now he had to make sure Val was doing okay with the drinks he was downing.
It wasn’t hard to spot him, and when he did, a smile played across Nathan’s lips before he walked up to him as a way of greeting. “Right, so a Guinness, correct?” he found himself asking as he took the empty seat beside him. “The next one’s on me, that is if you can handle a fourth one.” he added teasingly -- @vclfxk
