VC0665 Specialist Practice Unit Brief
📍 Provides opportunity to find an area of subject specialism + create a body of work on that. Find what you find interesting and use this as a springboard to choose your focus. Evidence YOUR LEVEL OF CRITICAL JUDGEMENT. Ideas should evidence critical judgement in terms of aesthetics, fitness for purpose, communication values, technical viability, environmental, social and cultural considerations.
📍 Plan and manage work either independently. 80% hand in before Christmas- process book, ISTD/RSA, Will it blend? 20% is D&AD.
💡 Short project- designed to start exploring themes, experimental components. Main chunk is ISTD/RSA (RSA illustration, different mediums) brief- competition brief.
LO1- Demonstrate the acquisition of detailed knowledge through research, some of which is informed by histories, contexts, contemporary practice within the subject including aspects of current research, and/or academic scholarship (research- who are the leading designers in your field)
LO2- Demonstrate your ability to use the knowledge gained to generate highly original and appropriate ideas, make critical and analytical judgements in developing your design ideas, evidencing understanding of user and audience behaviours (development- different ideas, how they are successful, suitable aesthetics that function)
LO3- Demonstrate ability in the creation, realisation, presentation and communication of work, alongside a highly professional approach to the organisation of working effort, time and project planning (files named correctly, is it designed to the best of the ability)
LO4- Demonstrate your ability to engage in critical reflection with your peers, working independently or as a team to consider the relation of the principles employed in critically developing and presenting your work (more to the end of project)
A1- To encourage the acquisition of detailed knowledge, some of which is at or informed by the forefront of developments within the subject, including aspects of professional practice and/or academic scholarship
A2- To develop the critical and analytical skills necessary for the identification of focused problems and questions in complex and unstructured situations. Manage and successfully deliver a workload comprising a number of projects of varying scale and complexity
