I thought it was because of the role she played before she got turned into a demon. She was like a second mother for her younger siblings so they made her look the part?

I’m a bit of a fake fan with this series because I’ve only watched the anime but is nezuko the eldest daughter of the family? If so she would’ve had to like step up and do the female things of the household with their mum (did they have a mother idek I’m a fake fan ��) anyway if that’s the case she would’ve had to like become mature early despite her age to help take care of the younger siblings and stuff
yeah i definitely understand this aspect of her characterisation at the start (and yes they did have a mum, she died that same night) ... im trying to work out what it is that bothers me exactly, and asides from the very obvious “having-her-shrink-and-be-a-baby” thing, i think a LOT of it has to do with not being able to see her mouth bc of the damn muzzle. ... it just seems to remove so much LIFE from her character ... like look at the differences here
a lot of her apparent maturity at the start also has to do with her hair being up, so if you take that aside, yes she does look very youthful and you could argue she is 14 .. but once you remove all the expression that her mouth makes, she just seems to lose a lot of dynamic and she obviously can’t express herself properly bc she can’t talk so I feel like a lot of her character can’t really be conveyed and we end up really finding things out about her from tanjiro’s point of view or memories
///and yes here I am discounting all of her fighting scenes and opportunities she has to be badass, i’m just talking about why her representation the rest of the time just kind of bothers me
