I know there's something deeper about the psychology behind Pete and Vegas fake smiles to each other while Pete is following Vegas/while Pete is working for the Major family. That being said, it's just so funny how they mask themselves around each other but don’t really attempt to commit to the mask.

Because Vegas just sees Pete as a lap dog for the Major Family, and he knows Pete is smart enough to know when Vegas is faking his charm, so Vegas just puts on that friendly fake smile on and says the craziest shit like "lets make merits together so we can see each in the next life" to who, essentially, is just some guy that works for his cousins. The way Vegas offers him food and pats him on the shoulders or on the back with that fake nice smile while Pete sees through it and has to kind of play along with it, even though he looks cautious because it's all a façade and Vegas can turn into a psycho as quickly as he smiles.

AND PETE! Pete has a lot of qualities as a body guard but following people is not one and he just has to put on that goofy smile and play the subordinate knowing damn well Vegas is not a dumbass whenever Vegas catches him. And Vegas just puts an innocent naive mask and goes along with Pete, as if they're friends and the situation is so comfortable.

It's hilarious. It’s peak comedy. It's everything I needed.

Given that Pete and Vegas have comedic moments in season 1, in season 2 I require a very awkward first date between them. I need the cringe. I need Vegas not really knowing how to go on a real date because he never liked anyone that way. And he puts on that fake grinning mask he always used to wear. And Pete being himself is just questioning why is Vegas acting like this, so he thinks Vegas did something and is trying to distract him. Pure comedy vegaspete yes, that's what I'm asking. Yeah, yeah, we'll have angst and development and highs and lows. But I need a sequel from that stupid back and forth between blood types where Vegas rolled his eyes at Pete calling himself cool and handsome.

I just know that after Pete left, Vegas replayed the whole moment before Pete knocked him out, and realized Pete could've simply harmed him with the knife he took from him, but that wasn't the point. The point wasn't to hurt Vegas, the point wasn't to injure him, it was to just escape from him.

Because considering Vegas' abandonment and trust issues as well as anger issues, he could have gone down the path of being angry at Pete because Pete tricked him into letting his guard down. But he knows Pete cares about him enough to not want to hurt Vegas, even after everything Vegas did to him physically and mentally, and that must drive Vegas to agony.

Violence would be easier, it would be simple. Pete could have had his closure in stabbing Vegas after what Vegas put him through. It would be logical and cold. Instead Pete knocks him out and leaves (reluctantly), and Vegas is alone again, but unharmed and things are so much more complicated. Pete leaves because Vegas hurt him again, keeping him captive even though Pete showed Vegas he could trust him by not running away the first time. Pete cares, he cares so much his heart was broken. And he still left Vegas unharmed.

And then you get to the part where they reunite and Vegas puts Pete's rage to the test and puts his gun to his chest. But Pete just breaks down, and Vegas sees it more clearly then ever that Pete just can't bring himself to do anything that could really harm Vegas.

It's complex and it's beautiful

An underrated moment from the novel is Pete speaking in his dialect to annoy Vegas who doesn't understand but instead of just cussing Vegas out he rants about Vegas being so handsome while Vegas is pissed that he doesn't have a clue on what is being said

Some people haven't read the novel and don't want to because they're uncomfortable, but they're curious about these scenes so here is the moment in question.

"Hey! What did you just say?!"

"I said I'm handsome." Vegas turned to glance at me. My face was more annoyed than before.

"Yeah, you're handsome. You're really handsome, charming, and dashing. You're so handsome I could cry. So handsome. What did your parents feed you to become so handsome that it's creepy? How did you become this handsome, huh?" I said in the Southern language.

Vegas shook his head and looked at me tiredly before pulling my head to kiss me by the forehead. Then he grabbed his car keys and walked out of the room.

Yes, Pete smiling at Vegas in the middle of getting roasted is something. But I imagine Pete getting taken hostage for becoming Vegas' right hand man, and possibly head of security after they started dating, and getting tortured but laughing maniacally because he knows if Vegas is not around yet he will be soon, and whoever took him is so dead

Edit/update: I think Pete would break free and kill the person torturing him with his own hands, and he would be so lost in beating the guy up he wouldn't notice Vegas arriving and only when Vegas touches his shoulder does he stop. I imagine Vegas kissing his head before helping him up and walking calmly out of the warehouse or whatever they are and Pete just quietly notices the dead bodies outside as well as the hot gun still in Vegas' hand.

But this scenario takes out the possibility of Vegas taking the people responsible for Pete's capture to his dungeon and just go unhinged for taking Pete away. Unless the person Pete is beating up survives and Vegas has his men taking him home with them? So many possibilities, sorry for rambling I kinda want to write this.
