In the tradition here in the Amazon the word shaman does not exist. What does exist is another name, vegetalista because the vegetalistas work with plants. There is also another way of saying it, which is curandero. If you ask the old curanderos around here, “Are you a shaman?” They will say, “No, I am a vegetalista.”

As my “Healing Visions” retreat here at @katari.medicine.center is coming to an end, I cannot thank enough my good friend @herbert_quinteros . I have been working with this healer (curandero vegetalista) for the past 5 years, and I’ve come a long way on my journey of dropping my ego, fears, and the lies of the world. He always reminds me that it’s the sacred medicines that are making my transformation happen, that he is just the facilitator. But I am still grateful to have such a solid friend by my side, helping conduct the ceremonies along his epic music and wisdom. My students are so happy too! We are going to make this planet a better place when we all become each other’s healers, not our traumatisers. Let’s just try to be the higher versions of ourselves in service to the collective, not just the individual.
