Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my newest painting “Kausaipak”!! I’ve been working super hard on this one since mid November and sharing every step of the process on my weekly IGtv tutorials. Stoked it is complete! This is a portrait of my good friend and spiritual healer (or “shaman”) @herbert_quinteros , who has been working on me for years, in ceremonies we’ve shared around the world. He is an amazing musician too (find him on Spotify, SoundCloud, etc.) so this image will be used for his newest album “Nativo”, which will be released in a few months. The painting is called “Kausaipak” because that is the word Herbert sais when he gives me my medicine cup (in this case, the 2nd one). It means “Por la Vida” in Spanish or “For Life” in English. This is why we work so hard at our shamanic purges, to be able to live more fully! I am so happy to be able to express my love and gratitude for my good friend and to finally be part of a musical offering of his. As per usual, this photo fails to show you the true colour, vibrancy and energy injected into the painting, in the same way the painting fails to show the true visions and feelings I have in my ayahuasca activations. But I gave it my all and I am happy with this new offering to my visual community. Sorry, I won’t be offering prints or products of this piece till after Herbert launches his record, so thanks for your patience and I hope this small pic can do till then. This new canvas is a lot of what I’ve been up to these days, at my parent’s farm-home “Muyawasi”, in Quilmana, Peru. It’s an activated portrait of my good friend and spiritual doctor @herbert_quinteros . He has been helping me lots for the last 6 years and will marry Arianne and me later this year too. At this point the painting is at 30%, so there is still lots of work to be done, but I gifted myself this winter (summer down here though) to work on it. In order to make this time to paint, I had to turn down many commissions and event performance gigs that I had been offered. But I had saved enough to pay my bills these months, as to have this freedom to do some art for myself. Though I am happy to be of service, being on the road a lot, painting for the communities that resonate with my work, it is important that I also give myself some of my own time. Time for family or solitude, to be peaceful and recharge. Time for pure self expression, without a client or money influencing the process. I am super grateful to be here now! This week I am back in the south Florida area, to live paint at a couple of soulful events organized by @medicine_movement_ . So I am currently at a shamanic medicine Retreat, doing my humble service by being in my creative flow. The retreat Center is beautiful, full of trees and has peacocks walking around. My Peruvian healer @herbert_quinteros is up here, so it’s my bi-annual visit to the spirit doctor, he always can see what’s off in my inner vibrational composition and knows how to recalibrate it (so grateful for that 🙏). Yesterday, @themetanoist and me started with a very potent Kambo frog ceremony, with @tribuspirit , that was an extra deep purge, cause I feel it tag-teamed with the remains of the buffo toad left in my system. Then the sacred medicine ceremony at nighttime was beautiful too. I didn’t drink much, as I’m still integrating the toad medicine, but the Sacred Mother eventually came for a little vibrational hug and a reminder of my greater connection with the universe, God, my tribe, you, etc. I didn’t need to purge, kinda feel like I’ve mostly found my peace and acceptance and don’t have to keep fighting those aspects of myself I don’t prefer. So the handful of ceremonies I do a year can now be a for spiritual communion and continued expansion. So I am in Tarapoto by now, in the high jungle of Peru. Today I enter Katari Center with my students to lead my art and medicine retreat. We start with a Temascal sweat lodge and later at night our first ceremony with my healer/shaman @herbert_quinteros . Then tomorrow we start painting our healing visions. This here is the painting that I started here at last year’s retreat and it ended being an ode to Arianne @themetanoist and all the deep healing Love she brought into my life. Sadly she was not meant to be with me in this current journey, as the self-love I am searching for has to come from my own heart root and not from any external sources. I have to conquer myself alone. I also decided to do a whole “dieta” this time, taking daily dosages of the power plant “Bobinsana”. In order for it to fully do its work I can’t have any food with flavour for the next week, no salt, condiments, no sugars (including fruit), that might take away from the potency of that medicine. Also no soap, deodorant, bug spray, toothpaste, masturbation, touching anybody, etc. Another challenging fast of sorts that will be hard, yet will make the aya ceremonies that more effective. I am tired of my insecurities and I am here to remove all that dosnt serve me anymore. Nobody said the path of Self-Realization was an easy one, but definitely worth it! I spent the first couple of months of 2020 at my parents land in Peru, painting this activated portrait of my healer @herbert_quinteros . It was an intense and focused birthing process and it was finished a week before the Corona situation hit the Americas. I’m happy I created this before that because I don’t think I would of been in the vibe for it once the Rona hit. This canvas now sits by my bedside cheering on my process. And next week I get to hang out with Herbert in person at his Center @katari.ayahuasca.center , in the junglke. There I will be doing a “dieta” personal retreat, before I do my public “Art n Medicine” retreat. A good soul shower is needed to purify out any energetical toxins of this year.
