Last week was a week filled with remembrance and celebration. One fun thing I did was taking part in a large online Samhain giftswap. In the pictures you see some of the gifts I made and sent to a fellow witch in the Netherlands. I've never made gifts like these before, so they were a bit of a (fun) challenge. The lady for who these items were meant mentioned that she is very interested in runes, so there you go.
First I made a rune lace by burning the runes of the elder futhark in wooden beads and making the whole thing nicer looking by adding black and silver beads. It was quite a pleasent, meditative thing to!
The second item is a charm I made using the so-called Vegvísir, or Wayfinder, rune. It protects one against bad weather during traveling. Hence I filled the little pouch with mugwort, a plant well known to protect travelers. I imagine this will also help the wearer in a more metaphorical way.
I hope the receiver enjoys her gifts, and for myself, I had quite fun making them!
