Look at us, @elyssiaw!! We both felt gorgeous at today’s #MarksOfMana shoot ✨ Vinaka vakalevu @duskyqueen, thank you @melanesianmarks for allowing me to wear marks that connect me to the #Fijian practice of #veiqia 🙌🏾 #TeamMela #PacificArt #MelanesianMarks 🍑🇫🇯⚡️ (at Auckland, New Zealand)
To have my oldest niece with me today was to have my sister with me 💕 and today’s marks were at times incredibly hard, for everyone in the room. So grateful for @melanesianmarks Julia Mage’au Gray and @vasagray for helping me move forward, process and release a lot of pain locked up in my core / sacral chakra 🧡 Hope everyone will sleep well tonight, it’s a new moon, a fresh start. Tomorrow we finish! 🙏🏽 #Niecey #AuntyEma #PacificArt #TeamMela #Veiqia #TeamFiji #MelanesianMarks (at Birkdale, New Zealand)
Breathing life back into the art histories of our bodies is transformative... decolonising. @juliamageau and her @melanesianmarks team are doing the WORK for #PacificArt! So grateful, and honoured to be part of the #Veiqia and #MelanesianMarks revival, grateful to share the journey with these fierce, trailblazing women. ✨ Torika Bolatagici’s marks were made by Julia Mage’au Gray in Auckland, 19 April 2018. 📷: Ema Tavola. #TeamFiji #TeamMela #Kadavu #Fiji #Tatu #FijianArtist
#TheVeiqiaProject will support and facilitate the research and generation of new work about Fiji women's tattoo with an inspiring crew of talented #Fiji women artists! The exhibition will open in March 2016 to coincide with the #PacificArt Association (PAA) International Symposium being hosted by @aucklandmuseum. I'm so pleased to have found a space for this project, filled with lots of natural light, on a bus route and easy to find! Nervously doodling until CNZ grants are announced later this month... Fingers crossed! ✨🙏🏾✨ #TeamFiji #Veiqia
