Costume Analysis Part II: Kahekili This is my second set of illustrations breaking down some of the costume designs in Chief of War. For these drawings, I wanted to look into the construction of the 'ali'i's (Hawaiian nobility) 'ahu 'ula (full-length feather cloak) and the specific kākau (traditional hand-tapped tattoos) patterns depicted on Kahekili in the show. My previous illustrations of the costumes were done on some of Ka'ahumanu's gorgeous pāʻū (traditional Hawaiian skirts/gowns). They are posted on my page if you're interested in looking at some of that research! Costume Design: Caroline Eselin Kahekili: Temuera Morrison
