You know, since its still less than a week since AAPI month, I still think the idea that you need to appreciate our cultures and people is kinda superfluous. Like, of course it would be preferable if people did have a genuine respect and interest in the diversity of cultures in asia and the pacific islands, but I really do think it would be more productive to stop having people commit racially motivated assaults. To me, every single time I hear another asian person talk about how "more people need to know about X accomplishment," or "Y person just did something neat," it feels like a whatsapp forward from an uncle about How Glorious India Once Was And Will Be Once More. Sure, yes, neat, and I'll be learning more cause I'm interested, but how does this materially help?
They put AAPI month and pride month next to each other for me
every time the end of may rolls around i always think of this tweet
All done! Fanart for the Hong Kong movie “Mermaid Got Married” (人鱼传说). For Mermay and for AAPI Heritage Month. I grew up in Hong Kong , where this movie was filmed, so it holds a lot of childhood nostalgia for me. I still recognize many of the shooting locations from when I was little. This movie was also my first time seeing an Asian mermaid . As an Asian girl who loved mermaids — and who would eventually join the mermaid community — that meant a lot to me.

Jewish-American Heritage Month Books and Authors
My local Jewish Federation has a great resource section for Jewish-American Heritage Month. Thought I'd share the kids' and YA book recommendations and all-ages author list. It's also Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, and you can celebrate both by checking out the books by AAPI Jewish authors, marked with an asterisk:
