BLESSED BY THE HEAVENS…his mother would always tell them how lucky they were to be born during the summer solstice. when the sun rose from the horizon, casting away the overwhelming darkness looming over the world, that's when their mother knew the universe had given her a second chance blessed with good fortune.

THE POWER OF TWO...wherever misol went, hansol followed exactly half a step behind with his notepad and pen. observant and full of curiousity, hansol always felt as though it was his duty to discover the unknown....and record his findings to take full credit in the discovery of something new.

ARE YOU HERE?...from a young age, hansol was stripped of his masculinity (at least that's what the kids at school claimed). with no dad in the picture, hansol was on a conquest to become a man. first step was to find his father. the second...learn how to hold his own.

HOW CAN I FIND YOU?...two delicately wrapped birthday gifts and a revealing letter was all hansol and misol were left with when their mom disappeared. a distant connection, a tether to an unknown place...his mother's hometown. hansol knew he couldn't stand by idly while his own family withered away.

personality.

infj— hansol has a strong desire to discover the unknown and help those in need. despite his chatty demeanor, hansol's low social battery has always made it hard for him to blend into crowds. he stands out (awkwardly).

often tries to overcompensate for being a dork. deep down he's sensitive and overly critical of himself. on the outside he's doing everything to prove he's the perfect protagonist on a heroic journey full of mystery and self-discovery. in reality, he's just a guy.

he claims to be the more responsible nerd, but he's also impulsive and naive.

hi everyone, lei (she/her, 25+) here! it's been a while since i roleplayed on tumblr, so bea patient with me as i get used to everything again! this is the town's electrician, ahn minki who is actually ahn moonsik who is a terrible human being, yay! i'm okay with plotting here or on discord, totally up to you! a quick tl;dr of minki under the read more, but i have his profile and bio linked on my pinned. i don't have any plots yet, but i'm open to brainstorming with everyone!

the ahn family lived in velgrove years ago until when moonsik's cruelty and crimes could no longer be explained as "boys will be boys", so they moved, believing the town was messing up with him and turning him bad. it wasn't.

moonsik grew up to be a murder and when his younger brother, minki, found out, moonsik decided to deal with it the way murderers deal: by killing his own brother.

as things were starting to look too sus moonsik faked his own death, assumed minki's identity and moved back to velgrove bc he knows no one would look for him there.

and here comes minki 2.0! he is still the same sweet boy everyone remembers. when asked about moonsik he says they lost contact he doesn't know where his older brother is.

he's been back in velgrove for just three months, so no one has suspected that there's something wrong with him yet.

hasn't killed anyone in a few months and is starting to feel the itch again, but he has been controlling himself very well. first he needs to relearn velgrove's lore and come up with ways to explain people's disappearances/deaths on it, but it's only a matter of time before he picks a new victim.

no one remembers when he first arrived—he’s always just been there, moving through the edges of velgrove like a shadow you don’t notice until it’s already passed you by. he speaks little, walks light, and leaves his home only when necessary. never lingers. never draws attention. some forget his name, but everyone remembers the shape of him. the way the air folds in on itself when he enters a room.

his mother died when he was five. illness, they said. something sudden. quiet. ordinary enough to be buried without questions. after that, the house changed. or maybe just the man inside it. his father stopped speaking, stopped reaching, stopped seeing. not unkind, just emptied out—like something essential had been scraped from him. he fed injae. clothed him. kept the lights on and the cupboards stocked. but they lived beside one another, not with one another.

injae learned early how to survive in silence. how to go unnoticed. how to need nothing. he shrank into himself until the world stopped asking anything of him at all. the years blurred—quiet, colorless. a boy raised by the weight of a man who had nothing left to give.

and then, one day, something shifted. no argument. no raised voices. just a moment—a crack, a breath, a stillness. something inside him snapped, and he didn’t stop it.

when asked about the current whereabouts of his father, injae will say, “he left.” not a lie. not the truth. just enough.

in reality, his father is still occupying the residence. the body is still in the house. folded into the dark behind a closet door. injae hasn’t decided what to do with it yet. sometimes he swears he can feel it watching him. not his father exactly—but something of him, something left behind. a weight in the corners. a whisper at the base of the stairs.

with his father gone, he has to fend for himself now. he’s taken a job at the red fox tavern, moving between tables like a ghost, unnoticed but always there. he doesn’t speak unless spoken to. he doesn’t ask for anything. and the town, for the most part, returns the favor.

a month has passed since her arrival and the medium still does not remember the details of her coming to velgrove at all. she tries to recall, searching through the foggy recesses of her brain, and only ends up with splintered memories that do not fit together. everything else is fuzzy — but then again, when has it ever been not? since taking that first painstaking step to sobriety, never had it been more difficult to differentiate what could be mere withdrawals and what were actual manifestations of something more sinister. the only things for certain after coming to her senses were that she had checked herself into a cottage downtown, her boots were muddy, one of the wheels of her suitcase was now missing, and oh. the voices ringing in her ears have since grown louder in volume than they ever had. 

upon learning the town’s history and becoming piqued by its surrounding oddities, she decides to stay for the time being until further notice. it had been a while since she last worked and a lightbulb just went off on her head at the opportunity to worm her way into the townsfolk’s mourning, vulnerable hearts. and if she were to go insane, velgrove seemed as good a place as any to completely spiral.

hello, lovely people, i'm kallie (26, she/her ) and i'm happy to present to you my poster girl for being messy mina. she is a complicated character but the gist of it is - she used to be a terrible party girl until her older sister mysteriously disappeared and currently she's just a bartender trying to get by the best she can. just below i have written down some plot ideas for her, as well as a summary of her background, but i'm also always down to go with the flow. like this post if you want a message from me, though to be honest i'll probably pester you anyway.

BACKGROUND

she was born right in velgrove to parents that didn't really come from money and didn't particularly care for her or her sister miyeon.

she had a tendency to act out as a child, so she didn't have many friends until she reached age 14 when her edge gained her quite the notoriety among her peers.

spent most of her youth partying, drinking, hanging around - she took many part-time jobs during the summer. skipped school a lot, which meant she didn't have the best academic record and was pretty much always on probation.

when she was 17, her older sister went missing, presumably leaving on her own accord - it was a wake-up call to mina and she was pretty depressed for the year following her disappearance.

after that she got her act more together, as that's what her sister would've wanted - her bad grades however didn't really allow her to apply to collage, so she just settled in the town longterm.

currently she is a bartender at the red fox tavern, has held this position for a while and she is happily renting a small apartment for herself away from her parents.

she never stopped looking for her sister though - and probably never will.

WANTED CONNECTIONS

somebody from mina's past while she was still in high school - aka somebody from her friend's group or school who has seen her at her worst.

acquaintance of her sister miyeon - for reference she is two years older than mina, so she'd be 31 currently, and she disappeared when she was 19.

mina used to do a lot of odd part-time jobs starting from age 15 up until 21 years of age - maybe your character needed some unconventional help.

she is a bartender so any regulars she might see often at the red fox tavern.

lil fun fact is her family name was intended to derive from the korean word for sheep. her first name is an attempted reference to one of her inspos mabel pines. both start with M, and with mabel meaning "lovable, dear", we have the hanja character for beauty (mi / 美) and sol / 솔 for pine.

has mommy/daddy issues that she has not been able to unpack to this day. instead, she's just lowkey guarded and has trust issues when it comes to making friends. kinda unapproachable unless her brother is around

the only exception the the last point is that she's boy crazy and loses all common sense + morals when it comes to her crushes (sorry world) she'll come out of her shell for any prince charming who suits her fancy

works at the tea and patisserie shop under the guise of being surrounded by sweets, but she's really just eavesdropping for a different kind of tea (if you're catching my drift)

she's lowkey Going Through It, but is doing her best to keep her spirits high and support her brother in his endeavors

random thread ideas

thistle forest is so cute, but misol has no idea of the dangers that lie within once the sun sets. you rush over to her in an attempt to warn her, but by then it's too late.

misol is sitting on the beach shore alone. as you approach her, it seems as if she's in a trance. do you dare disrupt her thoughts?

you're a regular at the tea and patisserie shop. misol has begun to familiarize herself with your face and your order, but it never really tastes right.

despite having just arrived in town, you see misol frequenting the red fox tavern more often than expected. it takes less than an hour before the girl is dancing around the place in a drunken blur. no one else seems to pay her any mind, but she's apparently dead set on starting a conversation with you.

"i heard the wishing well is capable of granting anything your heart desires. have you ever tried to reach it? ... did you want to try? ... this is the perfect weather to go swimming"

i promise i'm fine hi hi hi everyone! i'm seren (she/any, 30, gmt-3) and i am so excited to write with you all! i bring to you my songbird in the woods han aria, the town librarian who is also passionate about teaching. she lives by the lakeside with her mother whom she takes care of, and she is permanently haunted by a vision of herself as a fallen star. super normal stuff!

aria is the resident librarian and book nerd. she knows a little bit about a lot of topics, and she's always super eager to share knowledge and LEARN she's very kind and friendly and often yaps a lot in a very soft voice, and yes she will be your muse's older sister figure who also kind of has her head in the clouds a lot ty

she's also very passionate about teaching!! and like she's been the librarian for over 10 years now so if your muse has learned how to read at all CHANCES ARE your muse has taken at least one class with either her or her mother tbh

just as a note i would love to plot out some secondary family connections! like maybe your muse's grandpa was married to grandma han? i'm not opposed to giving aria aunts and uncles too!! i love family plots especially in small town settings where everyone knows everyone pl ease

has more experience with loss and grief than she'd like to admit: when she was a kid her grandmother followed a vision into the lake and never returned, and her father died not long after of a sudden heart attack.

her mother's health has always been inexplicably bad - she was only a librarian for like 20 years before her vision gave out, and nowadays she is mostly permanently bedridden. her mind is still sharp though, and she's still the best storyteller in town!

aria has a younger sister and they were pretty close growing up but they dealt with the family hardships in very different ways and it became very clear that they would grow up to be very different people. the wanted ad is coming SOON btw if you have a friend who wants to join the rp but doesn't have a character set in mind yet,,,,,,,,,,,,, hmu

SO ABOUT HER VISIONS much like her grandma, aria sometimes sees a bright light that calls out to her - it started when she was very young and she feels connected to it when she sings. in very emotional/stressful situations, that bright light reveals itself to be a vision of herself, but in a different form; almost as if there is a tear in the physical space before her, and behind the opening is a different world in which she is brave and free. as a kid she named the person in the vision narae (korean given name that means "wings") because, well, she had wings! and white hair! and a bow and arrow! yes, you're thinking of invu era taeyeon.

no one else can see narae so of course very few people actually believe her, and over the years she's kind of given up on telling people about it. narae is special to her and she'd rather be alone in the woods than spending time in town with people who don't believe her lkdjaf

she still sings constantly though! she loves wandering into the woods and calling out to narae through her singing, and also like. just because. she also sings to herself while reading, writing, doing chores, or basically anything else other than teaching.

oh yeah she's 32 going on 33 her bday is very soon please gift her cute notebooks and flowers thanks :3

she let a local kid cut her bangs and she regrets it deeply but she'll pretend like she loves it a lot in public

i assume she's had one or two long-lasting relationships over the years but her priority will always be the library and she probably didn't give her ex-partners enough attention i'm so sorry i promise she never meant to hurt anyone lfkjadlf but yeah she's not opposed to the idea of getting married it's just not at all a priority for her. also deep down she fears she will never be able to fully be transparent and like give herself to someone because she has deep-rooted trust issues stemming from her sister not believing in narae SO if she rejects your advances again i promise its not personal
