Finally done with my piece for Mass Effect Appreciation Week! I wanted to draw Vela with core founding moments to her life, especially events in Mass Effect 1, as well as give her a full body render for the first time.

I think a lot about how the reunion on Menae with Garrus in ME3 is so dire and bittersweet, the hopelessness of the reapers and Primarch Victus' struggle, and the selfish relief of seeing the person you love again.

My 30 minute warmup for today: I've been thinking of Shepard's mission with Kasumi at Donavan Hock's estate, and I couldn't get away from the idea that the light from Vela's hip implant would shine slightly through her dress. I also just really like drawing dresses.

I'll probably colour and refine this later but I like to think that Vela's hip implants/cybernetics require regular tuneups and calibrations.
