Featured riders include Betty Drafton on a Velocette, Cecelia Adams on an AJS, and Lucille Meeker on a Triumph. The bikes are classic British models, including Triumph motorcycles from the late 1940s or early 1950s.

When I first saw this, I thought this was a new release from Comet Gain. I thought, "Wow, it sounds as fresh as the early years." Turns out, it is. Both songs were recorded in 1996, shortly before the original lineup disbanded and apparently formed Velocette.

Comet Gain (London, England) have been a favorite for years. The buzz saw guitars always remind me of The Wedding Present, and the songs recall bands like Sportique, The Aislers Set and Saturday Looks Good To Me. But really, Comet Gain are in a class of their own.

I also love that their original drummer was Philip Sutton (The Pale Lights, Love Burns) - he's created some of my favorite indie pop in the last 15 years.

This 7" is being issued by UK label Spinout Nuggets.
