Just want to say, if your looking for a good lipstick, jeffree star liquid lipstick is amazing and doesnt come off unless you want it to, sorry I just love that lipstick so much I had to share

Oo they’ve got some pretty good colours at fairly decent prices too! If I ever end up with some spending money I may have to give it a try!

Thanks for the reply! My bird will not be coming out of the cage, she is not harnessed trained and is flighted. Do you have any ideas for things other than pom poms and pipe cleaners? I was worried about her chewing them So if you had any ideas of other stuff that would be great! I was eyeing up a spot in the class where people dont go its kinda tucked away and we do not do labs in that class (we go to a different class to do them)

She will not be allowed near other people during the day and I will make sure the teachers know this. The only thing I am worried about is my bird tends to be nervous around new people. Maybe I will dress up the cage and take a picture of it instead, might be better. Thanks for your reply it means alot!

Really not sure, twine balls and sisal rope could work, really depends on what you’re wanting to accomplish, comfy perches would be stiffer if you needed something like that or just stainless steel wire with the ends smoothed.

If you need experience to do what you want to have you ever considered moving. Maybe not to the states but some where else in Canada? Or just doing a summer job type of thing so you don't have to move permanent? The situation your in sucks, I really hope you find a solution, good luck and don't give up :)

I’m broke mate and have to consider the health of my birds, they’d have to come with me wherever I go or be rehomed (no way I would leave them in the care of my family).  I don’t think travelling elsewhere in canada would even help since ‘avian trainers canada’ has zero results, there may be rehabilitation centres and things but if there’s no trainers in Canada that are reputable anyways I still would not be able to progress since all aspects of avian training should be taught by shadowing a proper r+ trainer to gain proper experience.  The certification process requires an individual to have a minimum of three years of professional experience before taking the tests, if there’s no one for me to intern then there’s no professional experience to be made.

I would be willing to do anything if the actual resources were there, I want the education but there is none to be given.

What about going around to different zoos and sanctuaries and talking to them? You could tell them you would like to intern with them, It might not work but its worth a shot

There are none, legitimately there are none.  There is one location that sometimes has birds which are just ‘display’ animals with no actual trainers. The one other sanctuary that has birds, again no trainers, is run by the city so getting hired is near impossible and they don’t take volunteers.

I’ve thought of every option and there is no way to get the experience I need, not even a volunteer opportunity that could potentially lead me in the right direction.

Sorry I guess I didnt make myself clear, He's still pretty new and prefers sitting in his cage rather than coming out and he is semi hand tame right now (Occasionally sits on hand and eats out of my hand) He seems to have calmed down and is sitting on his door ( I keep it open and he likes to sit and look out) and was chirping a minute ago. he doesnt look to be hurt so I think were good! Thank you so much for answering!

Ah, alright! Be sure to leave a little extra millet in his cage once he’s all calmed down to help him remember you as a positive experience rather than being scared. Glad I could help!

I accidentally scared my bird when I went to move something in his cage! I had to put both my hands in the cage and he got scared and started flying around and now is standing still staring at me, I feel so bad! what should I do!

Standing in the cage or outside of the cage? not tamed? If he’s outside and untamed try to promptly toss a gentle towel over him and pop him back in so he can destress.  

If he’s still in the cage just leave him be while he calms down, it happens, he’ll calm down.  Just keep an eye on him to make sure he didn’t hurt himself!

Do you just use a budgie seed/pellet mix for your birds or what?

canary gets seed, sprouts and veggies daily parrotlets get roudybush pellets, veggies, sprouts and some seeds through activities like foraging and training.

captive birds don’t do all too well on seed, it’s very fatty and lacks a lot of nutrition so pellets make sure to give a captive bird adequate amounts of all the nutrients they normally lack in a captive diet without the excess fats.
