She's A Boss

There’s nothing wrong with being your own boss. Especially being a young entrepreneur.
18 year-old Chicago native, Ariel Peevy, is stepping out on her talent, and showing Chicago what she‘s made of. Miss. Peevy is the fashion designer of her Spring Clothing Collection, titled, Aleri, which should be released in April.
Miss. Peevy first began sewing when she was about 12 years old at a fashion camp at the Art Institute of Chicago. “They basically sat us down at sewing machines and had us go for it since most girls already knew how to use the machines,” Peevy says, “by the end, each girl had created a 3-piece collection and we had our own fashion show”.
But her creativity did not stop there. Miss Peevy created her first Aztec-print bustier out of a thrift-store button-up, and hand-stitched everything together in a time frame of two days! “I’ve always loved art, every form of it. But ever since I could hold a pencil, I found myself drawing clothes.” Miss. Peevy says, “I loved looking up endless combinations and styling options, using color, texture, and pattern to create something that I found beautiful.”
Her Spring Collection, Aleri, consists of a “classic” color scheme, such as red, black, and beige; and an overall aesthetic that’s more eccentric. Silk and plush fabrics will be used in non-traditional silhouettes that can transition from fall into spring.
Miss. Peevy left a few words of advice for aspiring fashion designers all over the world: “The key to design is honesty...your likes, dislikes, fears, preferences, flaws, strong points, and use of all those things to continuously inspire and challenge yourself. If you create work that you love, you’ve already achieved a huge goal.” Aleri will be released in April. There will only be one item sold of each original piece once released. The link to her website will be posted on my blog, http://veloursdevogue.tumblr.com , as soon as the website is completed.
