Velvet was always one to awaken first in the morning. So much so that it had become routine for her to be up before dawn most days. And it was on a morning just like this that Ruby woke at the same time. Not willingly of course. The shifting of her girlfriend had made her stir and the slight chill that came form the covers moving made things worse. "Vel." Ruby spoke, eyes blinking blearily as she reached out with her hand. "stay."

it had been like this for most of her life, to wake up extraordinarily early. usually, everyone was left asleep, dreaming of keeping the nightmares at bay. unfortunately ( or perhaps fortunately ? ), ruby was one to wake up when she wasn’t incredibly careful. not that velvet minds, seeing the tired huntress, as she was quite adorable while tired. still, she couldn’t refuse the small command.

she smiled softly, taking ruby’s hand &. settling in, curling back up with her. she snuggled her head into ruby’s neck, breathing softly.
