I had a VEMP testing some days ago. Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential... whatever that means. It tests for balance or dizziness issues. I was told that this assesses my sense of gravitation via my ears.
The test wasn't fun like the Audiology one. They attach electrodes around your chest, neck, and face to record muscle responses.
One test asks, while lying down, to lift and turn your neck and they would play clicking/hammering-like sounds to one ear. Apparently, our neck should automatically relax in response to hearing such noises. My neck muscles felt "worked out" by the end.
The other test was weird... they used a blunt, hammer-like device and it would gently tap my forehead continuously. Meanwhile, I had to look wayyyyyy up and then straight ahead (without moving my neck). My eyes certainly felt strained when looking up.
Overall, it wasn't entirely bad. The most concerning was the stinging sensation from the alcohol swab for the electrodes. Also, there was some resistance when peeling it off too. So if you have eczema or skin issues like me, perhaps giving them a heads up would be a good idea.
