Gooooooodddddd I am SO HERE for the pending Temsen-TRP confrontation. Something about having a character like Temsen, who is like, an actual magical superior to TRP and thus capable of speaking to him as a true equal (and more??) Is... the best kind of thrill. This may have been asked before, but do the Vetch exist in the standard Fae Tales cannon? Are they just vibing, doing their own thing?? Are they still the origin of the School's magical roots, etc.?
Hi hi hi! (I love your username and your userpic btw)
So! Hmm... I think the vench do exist in the standard canon!
I think they're just vibing, doing their own thing, and probably stayed relatively unaffected by what Olphix and Davix were doing and didn't care much? But I don't really know for sure, because I haven't ever written them in the canon.
I would say tentatively that they're still the origin of like... the motley costume in the School of the Staff. They aren't the origin of all magic, even in The Nascent Diplomat, they're just very good at it. And they're not the origin of the school, because schools to teach magic have always been needed for most fae.
But the concept of the motley costume, and some of the techniques, are definitely stolen.
I don't think it really harms the canon to have that be true, because it very much fits in with who Olphix and Davix were as people!
They're like Schrodinger's vench, they could be there, they might not be there, but I don't see any reason for them not to be there in the canon :D :D
