I know you’ll never see this...

…probably.

So it’s been roughly a year since we seemingly permanently cut ties.You took our moving a mere 2 hours away in the same state as us stating we didn't want to stay friends with you, when in fact there was no way we would ever be anything had we stayed there in that little town. And we certainly didn't do it to hurt you.

But this wasn't a sudden thing, no. The moment that we announced we were moving to continue our education, you started distancing yourself until you became a stranger. And the final straw when I cut ties when you were no longer returning my messages, or when you did they were short and curt, much like someone trying to drop a hint. I got sick of being treated like a nobody by someone who had been, at one point, one of my best friends. One of my most trusted comrades. I had to worry about myself at that point; your detachment was affecting my mental health and my school work. I couldn't do it anymore; pretending that you still cared when it was so clear to me that you didn't.

And when you finally noticed I had stepped back, there was no “hey what happened”. No, there was only anger and resentment and horrible things said. I saw everything you said about my husband. Horrible things that I promised he’d never know. You were so quick to write us off. Did you not actually ever care? All of our adventures, did they mean nothing?

Doesn’t matter now, anyway. It was fun while it lasted. I won’t forget the times we had.

Turning the corner from Kilgore onto Westnedge heading to the mall, you leaned out my passenger window and screamed to the girls standing waiting to cross “Help me I’m dying!”.

Or when we went to Kalamazoo and dealt with that shithole in the Pacifica that cut off the nice lady off who let me turn in traffic and then they got off and our exit ahead of us.

The conventions.

The game sessions.

Singing stupidly in the car. You still have one of my CDs, by the way. I hope it reminds you of me.

However. You were so cruel, the things you said to my husband. Your true colors had shown through, no denying that, no forgetting it either.

Whatever you decide, realize this. I’ve thought about you every day since you left after we moved. You were going to leave without a hug. You were concerned about being sweaty; I didn’t care. I never forgot that.

Nor did I forget when we came home and you prioritized your female friend over us. You came by for maybe 3 or 4 minutes and then left without saying anything. Broke my heart.

I had a dream about you the other night. Woke up and realized it was only a dream. Again, broke my heart.

I miss you, whether you care or not. It’s your turn to make a move.
