SHE’S CHEWING THOUGHTFULLY at the edge of the pencil in her hand, her gaze flickering between the pearly beast resting at the edge of camp and the notebook in her hands. On a fresh canvas, MARI is taking notes, observing their new companion from a comfortable distance. The aroma of fish cooking over a fire is wafting through the air, telling that dinner at their campsite might soon be ready. In the meantime, the rider has busied herself with studying the LIGHT FURY’S lithe figure. Being a beast that she has never seen nor heard of before, classifying it was an absolute pain.
Small, but build like an elder dragon. Capable of firepower, but strangely aquatic in design. Sturdy and durable, yet seemingly fragile. Mari didn’t know very much about aerodynamics, but she guessed from the size and shape of her wings, that the creature was built for speed and sharp turns. The fins at the base of the tail and the fluke suggested an agile frame.
What she knew thus far, she wrote down in bold and put everything else with question marks at the end. Until the female’s wing healed, Mari wouldn’t really know how good of a flier she was. ‘ Scales are white. Finite, almost shimmery. Long, flat dorsal fin. Possesses nubs on head, probably function like ears. What do I call her?? ’
NAME. NAME, she hadn’t come up with a name yet. Mari had wondered if she even should — this creature was wild after all, and there was no telling if or when she would eventually return to her feral life. Mari didn’t want to get too attached if she could help it . . . but, they also couldn’t just stick around with calling her ‘thing’ or ‘beast.’ With a huff, Mari plants her head in her free hand and taps the notebook with the pencil end. “ You are a real mystery to me, you know that? ” // @vendettacanons - light fury
