the restaurant wasn’t fancy, but it had charm : warm string lights overhead, worn brick walls, a tucked-away table on the patio just far enough from the hum of other conversations. he tugged her chair out for @veneumfm, not out of habit but because he wanted to, and when she sat, he bent to press a kiss to the top of her head before sliding into the seat across from her.
“ figured we were overdue. ” he said, thumb brushing the condensation on his glass as he looked at her — really looked, like she might vanish if he blinked. “ for somethin’ with real silverware and a bill instead of a tip jar. ” he grinned, soft around the edges. “ not that i’m complainin’ about makin’ out in parking lots though. ”
