Burano - Italy
Burano is an island situated in the Venetian Lagoon. With a population of 2,800, it is 7km from Venice (a 40 minute boat ride). The island rose to importance through its lacework industry, led by women on the island. Their lacework became very famous, and Leonardo Da Vinci even travelled to the island, to purchase lace to be used for the main altar of Milan Cathedral.
Burano is also known for its bright, colourful townhouses. Each house is painted a different colour to its neighbours. Anyone who wishes to have their house painted, must seek approval from the government, who will advise the of the colour options available for that lot.

Venice - Italy
Venice has 417 bridges, 72 of which are private. Like the bridges, the gondolas that travel under them are an iconic symbol of this romantic city. Venetian tradition states that a couple riding in a gondola should kiss under each bridge they pass, and they will stay in love forever.

#littlevenice is as close as I’ll ever get to my #venician heritage I suspect! 😆 I can think of worse places on a wet and overcast English weather day. #englishweather #london #canalboats (at Little Venice, London) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7GIRsyHTYLqDSrKKcOMh2r5DiGE-k9AUr1z1Y0/?igshid=13j9p6260m8oi
