I started this year with an unshakeable knowledge that art was in my soul, and THEN was medicated for ADHD for the first time in my life midway through. My plan in 2024 is to design even more characters AND expand my range of finished pieces well outside the genres of character design and reference
Looking inward at Venmare's design process
Wrote a great big Patreon post inventorying a few things I've said before on Cohost, and talking about where I'd like to go in the future. (Short version: Pretty sure the characters/environment I'm designing are going to contribute heavily toward an eventual interactive story/visual novel. Lots to look forward to!)

Ella (Matriarch): The only currently surviving ruling council member from the Venmare enclave's founding era, Ella was a clear pick for Matriarch status due to her quick wit and wily attitude, traits that -- combined with her signature verbal coarseness -- led to many important initiatives being quickly enacted from the moment of her instatement onward. She's getting on in years and knows it, but it hasn't stopped her from continuing to provide the entire enclave her guidance and compassion in equal measure. (Yinglet species created by Valsalia)

XACHXOL, FATHER OF THE FLAME: Warming an entire population center this far from the equator is very difficult in winter, and doing so safely and sustainably even moreso. Many believe it's XACHXOL's theatrical fervor that granted him Patriarch status in this field of study, but without the genuine professionalism and care guiding his every action, many in the enclave would find themselves outright unable to keep the chilly weather's effects at bay. A kind and gentle soul, a valued member of the enclave's tailoring staff, and a patient listener to all who care to talk. Epraca is first to admit to not standing out in any particular field, and often struggles internally with the expectations of others, but Epraca is nonetheless popular, and most importantly, Epraca is Epraca. Norlyn (secondary Matriarch): Attending to the responsibilities of an entire enclave in-person is a proposition too cumbersome for someone as advanced in years as the Venmare enclave's Matriarch, so she's hired Norlyn for the less critical tasks; so far the delegating effort has been a successful one. The active training role has landed Norlyn on the ruling council with voting power equivalent to a Patriarch, where she asserts her leadership priorities confidently and without hesitation.
