Everybody in this is evil. No exceptions. This is not a romance, but John is a classic psychotic yandere. He isn't redeemable. He is just a serial killer who is obsessed with one man. The art is great sometimes though.
Priest Peter took control of his church after the old woman in charge, Mary, died mysteriously. Lots of people die mysteriously around Peter. He feeds and raises war orphans in the church. He was a soldier before. When his fellow veterans ask him why he became a priest he always says the same thing.
"The war was not their fault. War is an adult thing, and they are children who know nothing. Looking after those who are left behind is every adult's responsibility."
His cool speech fools everyone who hears it.
Peter wants all of the children to get adopted into good families, and even though the city is harsh his church is warm. Its safe. The church is growing. His followers keep donating more and more money. Peter becomes locally famous for hosting charity events and choir recitals. He is a role model, and despite his age he's beautiful. Mary trusted him absolutely. After her death everything naturally fell into his hands.
Before Mary died Peter was by her side caring for orphans. He took care of a wounded boy named John. John liked cats. He always brought them back to the church with him, so he could kill them. Mary knew John wasn't sane, but she trusted Peter. When Peter said he would help John she believed him. She saw the devil in John, but she didn't want to kick a young child out into the street.
Mary was a good person, and her kindness got her killed.
Peter gives John drugs. He doesn't stop the boy when he goes on rampages. When John starts hurting the other children Peter just watches. John sees Peter as his god, because of the drugs and his beauty. Peter thinks John will be an ideal servant when he grows up, but that doesn't work out. John becomes too violent, so Peter abandons him.
John rots in a mental asylum for years before he breaks out. As soon as he gets out he goes on a killing spree. He rapes men that look like Peter, and he kills pregnant women for fun. He calls everyone that isn't Peter an insect. When he gets caught the judge immediately gives him the death penalty, but Peter saves him.
Why?
Peter sells his orphans to powerful local pedophiles. Those pedophiles supply donations and the fame he needs to keep the small church open. Peter's life is hellish. The son of a wealthy newspaper editor uses him like a whore, and his father is the most important pedophile on that list. Peter wants to give an orphan named Penny to this man. He needs John to kidnap the child and quietly bring him to a specific address. He knows John is still in love with him, so he bluntly asks John to help him.
John agrees, but then he gets bored. He kills Penny and begs Peter for more attention. The editors son, Mr. Heller, gives Peter a warning after he uses the man like a whore. He knows about John, and he also knows that John is waiting for the right moment to strike. He cannot and will not stop killing. He is not a convenient, loyal assassin. He's just a lunatic. Mr. Heller tells the priest to kill his dog before it's too late, but Peter doesn't listen.
Keeping John alive is convenient for him and only him. John isn't capable of killing him, and the junkie is strong enough to rip up regular men. Peter has made alot of enemies. He needs John's protection, and he's willing to sacrifice more children to get it.
This webtoon isn't over, but obviously the ending will be dark.
