Nora cared nothing for holidays, which meant she didn’t care about holiday traditions either, especially stupid ones like kissing under mistletoe. It was almost more ridiculous than the idea of a fat old man in a red suit going down a bunch of chimneys and leaving little kids all over the world presents for no reason whatsoever. Which would be why she was not celebrating but instead out doing her usual work on Christmas day. She wasn’t that surprised when the other girl crossed her path again, after all, she was a thief, it wasn’t unusual that they would go after the same things. What did surprise her was the girl pressing her lips to her own, the assassin too surprised to even push the girl away. “Well, good. I was planning on taking it anyway.”
"Figures. We’re not a bunch known for sharing.” She shrugged, before flashing another quick grin. “Consider it a Christmas present. Next time I’ll be sure I beat you to it.” There would be a next time, she had no doubt. There were only so many things to steal in this city and only so many opportunities to steal them. She started heading back the way she’d broken in, backing away. Even if their encounter was somewhat civil, Viv had been raised to never turn her back on someone, especially someone as dangerous as the other woman.
