okay i need to get this off my chest or else i might explode. i really need to vent to someone, and im so sorry it’s gonna be you, but get ready for a long few asks about void stiles. i’m so sorry in advance...

okay, I copy and pasted all the other asks under the keep reading. the stuff in bold is the original asks, and all the stuff below is my opinion.

*inhales* okay so I DESPISE how they never properly explained or went into why the nogitsune chose stiles as it’s host. I know that they got away with saying it was to with flies and doors being ajar and all that, but I don’t think that’s the whole story. stiles MUST have had some darkness, a ‘void’ if you will, that seemed inviting to the nogitsune. there HAS to have been something that drew it there, a darkness that most people don’t possess. there has to be some sort of unexplained power because he adapted to being void so weirdly QUICKLY. it goes back to season 1 where stiles manages to create a massive circle of mountain ash with his mind. that’s not possible for a regular human, and they totally brushed over it. he figures things out and senses things in a way that I personally don’t think can all be down to him just being really smart. 

he’s mischievous, a trickster, and sometimes difficult, and that was ALL before the nogitsune. he was always reluctant to save people compared to Scott, even encouraging members of the pack to let people die sometimes. and really, if stiles were any creature, anything at all, don’t you think he’d be a fox?

then again, I haven’t slept for 14 hours, I need to take my Adderall and I tend to over analyse things until I cant actually breathe so this could just be a total waste of words and time and everything ever. also, I love soft, kind, self-sacrificing stiles too. so.

Okay, first of all, I absolutely fucking agree. We did not get nearly enough back story on the nogitsune. I could’ve gone for a whole 24 episodes on it, there was so much unexplored history we could've had. I would’ve liked to see more about how the nogitsune was created, other times he’s been released and caused chaos, and he definitely could’ve had a deeper backstory. One episode? That made me mad. He’s 1000 years old, there was so much they could’ve covered. 

Not to mention, there was so much more that they could’ve gone into with Stiles. He has so much hidden darkness and rage. I mean, there was a definite reason the nogitsune chose Stiles. He has a lot of deeply rooted pain and suffering to feed and play on. Let’s list a few, shall we?

His mom’s death

His constant rejection from society because of his ADHD/general spazziness

The weight of looking after his dad

The weight of almost losing the only parent he had left, and almost losing Melissa, who is a pseudo mother to him

Being the one to hold Scott together every time Scott fucks up

The constant feeling of failure

His anxiety???

The personal weakness he feels as being a human

The constant, on-going and crushing regret of not accepting the bite from Peter when things get tough and he could have just been a wolf

The lives of Erica and Boyd being on his conscience

Rage from being constantly underestimated for his intelligence and abilities

Being torn because he only ever wants to do the right thing and he tries so hard but sometimes it just doesn’t work out

There’s so much more, but I will not go on.

There has always been so much potential for Stiles, and they always gave little hints about ‘what could be’ and then never followed up on it. It really irked me, because they always made something special out of everyone else, and Stiles never got a chance to be something more. I love Stiles, I really do, but there were so many paths they could have explored with him that they just didn’t. 

The nogitsune had three options, three minds with open doors. 

Allison, a huntress who is highly skilled, honestly has a larger reach of people because of her family and her popularity, and she had access to a lot of equipment that could cause definite pain and suffering.

Scott, a werewolf, and the leader of a pack. He could have hurt so many, been used to guide an entire pack into creating chaos because they wouldn't question their leader, and the boy they looked up to. 

Stiles, a boy who is supposedly weak, a boy who is human, and has a very limited number of friends and people who could be harmed. He’s scrawny, he’s “147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bones”, and yet, he was the one chosen to wreak havoc.

Stiles was chosen because he has deep-rooted pain, anger, anguish, and torment swirling in his mind. He suppresses it al for the sake of other people, lets his emotions fester and bubble over and so he was the obvious choice. He is cunning, and intelligent, and sneaky. We’ve seen it. He’s sly and manipulative with his attitude and he’s not afraid to stand tall with his friends, despite how scared he may be.

Stiles has all the qualities a fox would have, and that is another reason why Stiles was chosen. He was the perfect host.

(part one) okay so this is a late edition to the stiles discussion but i have a few more thoughts; stiles and his interest in murder/death/puzzles is ALWAYS written off as him just following in his fathers footsteps. if his dad wasn’t the sheriff, it would be looked at extremely differently. yes, stiles was influenced by what happened around him with case solving as a child, but that’s not just it. he was born with the ability to detect and seek out chaos- keep that word in mind.

part two; stiles actively seeks out chaos and strife from the FIRST ep. that is beyond child’s curiosity & wanting to be like his dad. that isn’t NORMAL. even his dad, and dad’s usually want their kids to be like them, is concerned & even alarmed by stiles’s interest in these things. stiles WANTS to see a dead body. he WANTS that risk. scott doesn’t. i think the pack get so used to weird things happening they forget how weird it is that a human is more invested in the supernatural than they are.

part 3; this seems obvious, but i feel it’s over looked- stiles is the person that got everyone involved in the supernatural in the first place. HE was drawn to laura hale, not scott, who became the werewolf. he was the one that started it all. stiles clearly had some kind of feeling, something pulling him toward it. stiles didn’t need to be turned into a supernatural creature like scott to stay involved. he stayed involved because he WANTED to. he liked it.

part 4; stiles doesn’t need to be bitten to stay. if the roles were reversed, i highly doubt scott would have wanted to be as involved as stiles- he would have stayed for his best friend, sure, but stiles didn’t just keep going because of scott. scott kept going because he felt a RESPONSIBILITY as a werewolf and eventually an alpha. stiles didn’t feel a responsibility. sure, he likes saving people. b it he’s mainly there for the ride. he investigates these things in his SPARE TIME.

part 5; top this all off with his spark enabling him to create a giant circle of mountain ash, we can see that stiles already had aspects of the nogitsune. he had the curiosity, the impulsiveness, the chaos. like the nogitsune, he does things because he can. he’s there for the ride, not for a defining reason like scott. remember what peter, literal sociopath werewolf (who also OFFERED stiles the bite, he didn’t give anyone else a choice) once said about him? “chess is stiles’s game”

I have to say, I disagree with some of the points here. I think while there were three minds open that the nogitsune chose Stiles, it chose him because he had the biggest possibility for darkness, but he isn’t naturally dark.

I think the reason he stands so strongly by Scott, is because he’s so loyal. He doesn’t have many people in his life, in fact, when Scott got bitten he only had Scott and his dad, he didn’t have any other friends or family, and so he was doing everything he possibly could to look after his friend. We have seen how fiercely protective he is of his father, too.

I think he reason the nogitsune chose Stiles is that while he’s always been underestimated and weak when he clearly hs power, is also because those same qualities of unending loyalty and the deep love he had for those around him is exactly what made it so easy for him to tear everyone apart and make chaos as the nogitsune when they were trying to protect him.

I don’t think Stiles is naturally dark. 

He has darkness, rage and anger built up inside of him that sometimes bubble over, but he isn’t a dark person. He’s curious, and protective, and loyal, but he is not a naturally ark and evil person.
