WHERE: pravda. WHO: @verabrooks & emmy.
The struggle was real when it came to deciding whether or not to bring Noodle when she went out to see Vera. As a general rule, clubs took away too much of the control Emmy needed to have on her surroundings, and more often than didn’t, created the kind of environment that she’d find herself needing him in. Tonight, she’d decided to leave him behind. She trusted Vera’s astute observations of people, knew she was the no-bullshit kind that would tell her exactly how it was, and that made her feel safe enough.
Thankfully, for Emmy, the weeknight had thinned much of the usual weekend crowd. She was sure Vera didn’t share the same sentiment, but as Emmy caught sight of her, a head of enviable curls bouncing slightly as she wiped down the bar top, she smiled a little to herself, some of the setting’s tension easing its iron grip on her stomach.
She slid into an open seat across from Vera, a small sigh of relief on her lips that the hard part was over. At least, until it was time to leave. “Please tell me you get off soon. I’d prefer not to have to share you with the bar.”
