Lucille couldn’t help but smile as she watched the stray slowly walk up to her. It was hard for her to contain her excitement. She knew that taking care of a dog in today’s world would be a bit difficult, but dogs ate anything, so she knew it would be easy to feed him. Besides, Simon had a dog, so why couldn’t she? “Hey buddy. Do you wanna come home with me?” she asked as she began to scratch the dog’s chin.
“I bet you’re a hungry boy. We have tons of food for you to eat.” she said with another smile as she began to ruffle his fur. “Plus, you’ll be able to sleep in a warm bed at night. I bet you’d like that.”

It had been weeks of recovering from what Hannibal Lecter had done. She’d trusted him, she’d been kind to him, but it did nothing to shield her from his darkness. If he had any pity for her, he would have let her die instead of cursing her to a life where she could no longer bare children.
In her own mind, it was as if he’d taken all that made her a woman away. It even felt as if her husband had no want to touch her; she was still like glass ( that was most likely his issue ) but those dark thoughts had taken hold of her and convinced her that he’d be finished with her now that she had no ability to give him children. The deed would go to one of the others, taking her place as the one wife that he confided in and shared secrets with.
The dog at her side and his soft nudges pulled a sob from her as the animal ripped her from darkened thoughts. She leaned over slowly, still careful that she’d rip stitches that were no longer there, and wrapped her arms around him into a warm hug, burying her head into his beautifully colored fur.
