Let’s thing logically about this, I believe it is safe to assume that the children have been planning this escape for quite some time. Considering XB2’s abilities it would also be safe to assume that they have at least a rough layout of the areas immediately near the lab. They would not be able to traverse the hallways because of the surveillance system and guards being stationed there. The ventilation system would be their only method of escape.

Verity: Fact, escape via the ventilation system can be hindered via gassing the vents. Fact, we cannot due to health and safety violations.

Barney: Still... If we gotta we ask forgiveness later, not permission now.

Verity: If Subject XG1 and Subject XB2 succeed in making it outside of the vents, they will have to contend with military forces on watch. There are also multiple gates and checkpoints they would have to surpass.

Though one is easier to deal with, you have to remember that 1. this is a CHILD, alien or not theyre still very young, 2. they have the abilities to change their form, meaning much harder to pick out of a crowd, and 3. just the general danger of them being alone in god knows where. i might just say fuck it and go back to sleep

Chell: No, we never took a blood sample from them and the scales from XG1 seemingly do not allow for Verity to track them. Not to mention Verity can’t go off of Black Mesa property.

Verity: Fact, the scales do not provide enough DNA evidence and seem to be in a state that they constantly shift. I was able to track XB2 due to a blood sample that was taken very early on.
